Traction / Wheelhop Issue

Default Traction / Wheelhop Issue

I own a 03 gt and I noticed that even tough I have decend tires on it everytime i launch, it just starts spinning wheels (wheel hop?!) , than traction control kicks in and accelleration is doen, also without traction controll it just keeps spinning. so i cant launch with full throttle open, im not sure if that problem could be fixed with new lower rear control arms, what do you guys think ?

Control Arms would be the place to start, those mushy bushings contribute a lot to wheelhop.

Street tires can only hold so much. You can bolt on a lot of suspension parts, but they can only do so much with street tires. What mods do you have done?

i have a bunch of bolt ons on it, but the things that would influence it that i have 3.73 gears and the car was lowered by the previouse owner about an inch or an inch and 1/2. Im pretty sure I have aftermarket shocks and springs. but the tires are low profil and made for florida meaning not good in rain but stick to the road (besides accelerating in 1st)

It's called feathering the throttle. It goes a long way on street tires.

Or just launch with a 2-step. That helped my car a lot.

but you have a manual i have the auto not that easy to control i drove stick all my life mustang is my first auto because i got a steal on it.

lowered car = stiffer springs = **** for drag racing.

ok, but would getting some lower rear control arms help significantly?

Depends on the arms and the bushings. Good stuff will definitely help but how much I can't say.

Call up Maximum motorsports and let their friendly expert staff guide you to a suspension that I can promise will be far superior to what you have for what you want. You can usually piecemeal it if you do them in the right order and always keep the times dropping.

well i thought about the J&M ones of AM they are cheaper but have the same kind of bushings as the MM

Lower control arms will help a bit for sure. But like I said street tires can only do so much. The control arms will help with wheel hop and give better traction, but I still spin in 1st on my street tires.
