Default Ground clearance on 04 GT

I have a newly purchased 2004 GT. The car has some great looking 18" wheels, but very little ground clearance. In checking out the diameter of various tires on "TireRack", it looks like the 18" tires are only about 1/4 inch smaller diameter than stock 17" tires. My oil change guy said the car has the lowest ground clearance he had ever seen. I have to be careful in a lot of driveways, etc. I am wondering if the car had been lowered, or if it is just the "nature of the beast". What is the easiest way to see if the car has been lowered, and is there an easy fix. It is a problem I can live with, but sometimes it gets to be a drag (literally) worrying about it.
thanks for the good answers on my question about the vapor lock the other day.

when these cars are lowered the cats hang very very close to the ground so be careful going over speed bumps

Yeah sounds like it's been lowered. Stock mustangs have a 4x4 look (mine being an example)

Find another 2004 and go sit next to it, you will see a difference or measure the wheel hite between the tire to the fender well.

Crawl under and look at the springs. I always assumed my car was at stock ride height until I saw Eibach written on the springs when I put MM RLCA in.

If his car is dragging on the ground sort of low, this may not be the best option. I'd go with both the check the clearance between tire and wheel-well, and post pics options.

Also check on the cats when able. If your car is sitting too low, your cats will be annihilated.

Well, obviously jack the car up so you can do it. I doubt at stock height you can crawl under w/o jacking it up.

Isn't the stock fender to tire gap like 3 1/2"-4"? measure it if its less than that its most likely lowered
