Question Which SPRINGS to use???

Hey guys, I'm new at this modding stuff and I'm looking to get some lowering/performance springs for my 01 GT Convertible..I don't have any performance mods so i'm not looking to race, but just looking for a better stance and handling for everyday use..money is no problem, I just want to know what the best is! Thanks!

FRPP Handling Pack. Includes everything you need plus new sway bars and drops coupes about 1", not sure on verts.

well, I'm trying to decide on either the steeda suspension package, or the eibach suspension package..they're are both about the same price, but the eibach lowers 1.5 inches opposed to steeda's 1.25 inches..Also, if I do lower it 1.5 inches, do i need to get sway bars??

Sway bars aren't needed but to get the best performance out of the springs, you need matching shock and struts, which the FRPP kit includes (plus is a steal since you can get it for $500 shipped). However, if you are stuck w/ Steedas and Eibachs, go w/ Steeda. Eibach springs are designed for looks, not handling, especially since w/ the smaller drop in the FRPP, the FRPP springs are much stiffer than the Eibach pieces and if you have people in the back seat, you want the stiffer springs. I had the Eibachs before the FRPP and I have to say, you don't notice the difference in height but the handling is miles ahead better.

gotcha..I appreciate the advise, I guess its between the steeda or FRPP kit for me!

Also another brand to look at are H&R springs. Others will probably chime in on their preferences but sounds like for you, the most important thing is the best handling w/o modifying other stuff to get it and something streetable. So, just don't go crazy w/ drop and make sure you get shocks/struts to match the springs. If you use the search function, you should be able to find something that matches what you want the best.

I have the H&R spring and the ride is about the same as stock. My stock springs seemed to be stiff so I really didnt notice a difference. R you going to a larger rim? If you do then you will probably use a smaller profile tire which will make it ride rough. You will need to get caster camber plates, bump steer kit, and offset bushing. This will help with alingment and tire wear. Trust me I know. I didnt do caster camber for the first year after I lowered mine and my front inside tires went bald. Do it right the first time so you dont spend more money later. I recommend Steeda, H&R, and Eibach to get the lower stance you are looking for. FFRP wont give you much of a lower look. Also change out your shock and struts.

I have had my Eibach Pros for about a year now... Im digging the hell out of em myself. Some folks say with that with the pro kits (or H&R comparable spring .. think its SS) ya dont need the CC plates. So I didnt order any when I got my springs. Installed the springs myself and went straight to the shop for an alignment.... and they couldnt get it done. I ordered the MM CC plates (Maximum Motorsports) and I have been getting better tire life than I ever had on any vehicle before. The CC plates are a must IMO.

not to hijack this but how much would it be for everything you need. for spring cc plate and anything else.

Never use offset bushings on a stock k-member. You won't get the benefit of them using poly bushings and unless you have an insane drop, don't need it. Bump steer also isn't needed unless your having problems w/ it. As for C&C plates, it's hit or miss. Anything bellow a 1.5" drop you shouldn't needed it but lower than yes.

Just go to the website man. Shocks/ struts, springs, and MM c/c plates.

Yes for sure..... Look at it this way. The MM CC plates cost just a bit more than what most of us pay for one tire. IMO its a small price to pay to keep from ruining high dollar tires. Plus WITH the plates, your alignment can be dialed in more precise too!

The only other alternative to cc plates is camber bolts. They are cheaper about $30 for a set from Napa. They give you adjustment of camber which is usually what is affected when lowering stangs. Look if you go 1.5 drop get cc plates or at very least camber bolts. I was told that my alingment was fine and then a year or so later tires where shot b/c of neg camber. That was with 1.5 drop. Just be safe and get cc plates it is worth the little extra money. As far as cost it really depends on what brands u go with and if you install spring and supporting mods. Then of course front end alingment will be have to be done ($80).

There's a sticky in this section that tells you exactly how to select parts. Even includes spring rates for comparison. I would suggest you read it before taking any advice.
