Default 2001 Cobra Hp Limit

I was just wondering how much HP you could have a stock 01 cobra motor before it would blow. And how much you could safely run. THanks guys

That is a very "loosly" worded question.

With forged pistons and rods, honestly I don't think you will ever find the limit.

Stock engine is a different story.

It's all in the tune and the driver....stock power is safe unless you abuse it. Add power and you'll have to remove some abuse to get the same life expectancy.

As you add power to anything you reduce its longevity. Fact of life. There is NO MAGIC NUMBER where the motor comes apart nor one where you're doing more damage than another.

If you want to be safe with something like a blower then keep the boost under 8lbs unless you run race gas. I know of 1 cobra motor that makes 660rwhp and 500+ rwtq on a stock bottom end... his tune is the only thing between him and a windowed block and when he races he uses 100octane gas to keep the thing from blowing apart.

If you're planning to abuse it, then build it. Otherwise you're just cheaping out and that's dumb considering you're cheaping out something that'll likely propel you to deadly speeds before you know it.
