Default 2001 cobra vs 2001 gt???

I just wanted to see what you mustang guy think it better overall. Im thinking of picking up a 2001 cobra or a 2001 gt. I just like that the cobra has more power and better suspension from what i hear. I would just like to see what you guys think about it and if its even worth getting the cobra over the gt. Thanks for any help in advance

it absolutly is worth getting the cobra over the GT. They have the 4.6l 32 valve DOHC engine instead of the 16 valve SOHC.

better power, higher RPM limit, responds better to mods, etc.

I don't think anyone would pick a GT over a Cobra unless money was the problem.

Looks like I'll be the different one. If you plan on using it as a daily driver, get the GT since the SOHC heads provide better low end grunt making it more pleasant to drive in stop-go situations (there's a reason why the 2V heads are still used on the 4.6 in the F150). Otherwise, if you don't plan on using it as a DD, get the Cobra.

I wish I could be different, but I have to go with the majority here. The IRS suspension is better for a daily driven car IMO...not good for drag racing, but better handling and probably a little more comfy of a ride.

The 4v engine will respond well to your basic mods like cold air intake, and exhaust whereas the 2v won't. I made a little over 300rwhp with my mach 1 and very basic mods and a tune. You'd probably be right around that number with the same basic mods in the Cobra. A set of 4:10 gears will really wake the 4v up as well.

If you can find one without a ton of miles then I say go for it. You also might want to look into getting an 05-08 GT, they can easily make 300rwhp....you'd get more torque out of the 4v.

less than 11k from a private owner...probably like 11-13 dealer...also depends on the cond. and mods. Maybe even cheaper now with gas prices

The Cobra is definately the more desireable car, but will cost more too. You should be able to buy a 2001 GT with 80k miles on it for $8k all day. ****, you could get a vert for under $10k.

Just wondering if i would be satisfied with a stock GT. I don't think i will be modding much but i will do very small stuff.

nobody in history that was equipped with ********* at birth has ever been able to leave their GT alone. It's NEVER enough, you'll ALWAYS want more. Get the damned cobra. It's the bees knees of mustangs and it's a far far far better street car than a GT.

Guys get GT's to fvck with them, guys get cobras because you don't really have to fvck with them much. 01 was the best year NA cobra to come out of SVT. Except for the 03-04 cobras the 01 is also the best to drive hard out of the box.
