Im thinking about getting dual exhaust for my 2000 auto v6. I cant decide on true dual or a y pipe hookup. Does anyone know how much hp I would actually gain with a true dual exhaut setup?

I am eventually going to get a tuner for my stang because of my new 4.10 gears if that makes a difference.

 

if you stick with just a y - cat back you can get up to 9hp. But I wouldn't recommend a true dual exhaust unless you get a new mid pipe. mac has both catbacks and mid pipes if you wana look at their stuff. or look on the American Muscle.com website...

 

well id never buy a mid pipe i would just have a shop fab one

 

I bought the Magnaflow Catback Dual Exhaust system and had the local shop fab a custom h-pipe to replace the y-pipe.

 

Tru-duals or nothing. The major reason you switch to duals is to get rid of the bottle neck that the y pipe creates. You can either get a new mid pipe, make a mid pipe, or cut your existing y pipe and run duals from it. I did the last option with a GT take-off cat back set up.
