Default What size injectors ?

I just got a great deal on a used Procharger. D-1SC. It came with an 8lb and a 16lb pulley. I plan on running 10lbs. I need to get injectors since they were not included. I was figuring on 42 lbs Injectors.
Am I correct ? Suggestions ? Thanks

38 or 42's would be appropriate assuming you're putting that on a 4.6 and looking for about 400rwhp or so. Make sure you have a high flow fuel pump to support those new squirters though or you still risk a serious lean condition.

Yea. It a 4.6. Sorry. The guy I got it from told me the 42's were just about maxed out even with 8lbs so I wanted to check. Would it hurt to go bigger and just adjust the pulse ? And if so suggestions. I do have the snow performance methanol injection kit also and might forge the internals later and increase the boost. I also will be installing LT headers shortly. Thanks

42# injectors should be more then enough for a 400rwhp car.

too much injector is just as bad as too little.. if you see lean-out on 42's then you're fuel system isn't sufficient upstream, like line diameter/volume or fuel pump capacity, pressure, filter size, etc. 42's are big enough to handle 400+rwhp as long as the pump and lines can carry the volume. If you get the injector too big it becomes hard to get the low speed operation smooth. If you're going to up the boost, then you'll want to jump a size when you do that but probably not before... something like 48's will handle any power you're ever likely to make out of a 2v motor.

Im not sure how much I agree with that. Too little injector is a lot worse then too much. You can make too much injector work as you CAN NOT make too little injector work.

From an engine damage POV yes... you've totally got me there.

I was thinking more along the lines of drivability causing safety issues. If they're too big and pulse width has not tuned properly (which gets harder as they get bigger) then you'll see issues with stalling, rough idle, hesitation, etc... which I consider to be pretty serious.

I agree, but if you have the right tuner/ tune then it should be fine.

I am running 39.5# 03/04 cobra injectors. I like the way the skinny blue injectors look. I had to buy harness adapters though to make them work.

Will I need adapters with the 42lb'ers? . Also I got the SVT focus pump with the charger as well. Will I need to do anything to the filter, fuel lines, etc. or will the pump and injectors be sufficient without modifying any other component? Thanks

42's should be fine as well as the svt focus pump, but i would also look inot a kenne bell boost-a-pump

as long as they're for your model car they'll be fine. rating is basically just the size of the hole in the bottom.

The BAP might be a good idea but you'll find out during tuning in all probability.

I plan on having the LT headers and a 75mm TB and Plenum. Does anyone think I should up the injector size. The only reason I keep questioning is that I am using different injector size calculators and am coming up right around 42 or higher. Would it hurt to go to 55's ? I hope to get to 425 at the wheels. Is this reasonable with 10lbs of boost?

42# is more then enough for what your stock internals can handle. get the 42#ers and a fuel pump upgrade and you will be fine.

42's are good. im no where near maxing mine where as my focus pump was maxed out at 408 hp. so if you have a auto making 400hp then you will need a BAP. tim at MPH put one on my car while he was tuning it. so my 408 through the auto is pretty much 420-430 manual horsepower, but im also pushing 11-13#'s of boost on the stock block, very risky not recommend by the majority on this board.

since your looking to make 425 hp then you will be fine with the 42# injectors. you should invest in a kenne bell boost a pump.

Is there another pump that flows better than the SVT focus pump. It is used and Im considering buying a new one anyway. Thought on using the used focus pump and other other options in pumps vs adding the Boost a pump. Thanks.

there is the aviator fuel pump which flows slightly more, and there is the Ford GT pumps which flow even more.

The SVT Focus flows at 255 lph. Can you tell me the output of the others and the best place to purchase them. I guess what I am considering is if the boost-a-pump will run around $200.00 to buy and then I'll have to install it. Would it be easier and possibly cheaper to buy a pump that flows more or a dual pump such as the GT 40 Supercar dual here:

Thanks.

the focus is more like 210lph not 255lph. The aviator is i belive 310lph and the ford GT pump is good for low 600lph. The GT pump is said to be good too 600rwhp (if the correct fuel rail and lines have been upgraded).

If your rocking a stock short block the SVT focus pump flow more then your car can handle. If your gonna build the block and add more boost get the GT pumps.

cool thanks. It looks like I'll either just use the used SVT focus pump I have or get the Aviator. Any thoughts on using the used one. Are they prone to failure or anything I should do to it before putting it in ?

42#'s are good. If your worried about the fuel pump then you should go with '03 Cobra pumps and tank.
