Default Mach 460????

I'm interested in possibly upgrading the stock mach 460 speakers in front/back and possibly upgrading the stock amps, but leave the stock head unit. Has anyone does this with any success?

If so did you get componet speakers including the tweeter or just buy two way speakers and keep the stock tweeters?

get component speakers, or just replace the tweeter they're cheap anyway. if you change the speakers you have to take out the amps and/or add a new amp or multiple amps. might as well add a new head unit while you're in there. it will make a difference. thats the thing that sucks about the mach 460, you cant change one thing without redoing everthing.

Oh ok....do you know if the stock amps are 4 channel amps? I'm trying to just put some good speakers in there and a couple of amps that can drive them better than the stock ones, but i've heard the same thing about the mach unit....when you start switching stuff out it doesn't work unless you replace it all. I'm just trying to figure out why that is, why wouldn't aftermarket amps work with the head unit.... it's just basically keeping everything the same, but adding better quality stuff.

That's pretty weird dud. Does your head unit say "mach 1000" on it? They must have stuck the wrong one in your car!

No it must the 460 head unit. But the pics i see don't look like mine. Here's a pic. Even so mine still rocks pretty hard. Good enough for my old ears. Lynyrd Skynyrd sure sounds good cranked up.

Yeah that's for sure the Mach 460 head unit. I believe the difference between the 03 and 04 head unit is the "satellite" option and I also think the 04 version has the "ambiance" option as well.

It kinda gives a little more reverb sound. Kinda like extra stereo sound.
