i have 2 sony 12" subs and a 1200 watt amp....there just fine for me for i dont listen to rap....rock (which many songs dont have alot of bass like rap) is wat i listen to and it still sounds really good....IMO, if ur just starting out in the car audio business, start off w/ somthing small, like 2 10" subs....something cheap, and a cheapy amp too..to see if u like the thumping of the bass.....im about to upgrade to 2 12'' mtx w/ a ported box...they sound nice and there nothing too fancy

If I bring my 95, stripped of the complete Mach460 system, and 1100-1200 dollars to a stereo store what should I get? Can someone throw a complete system together for me (parts list I mean.) I do not listen to rap/hip-hop, but my musical tastes depend on the mood. I can go from Primus one minute to 70's rock the next. I dont want to lose my trunk completely and will one 10" sub be enough to satisfy? I like my Mach, but clarity when cranked isn't the best. Also, I'd like to keep the upper door speakers (tweeters?) if possible and replace w/a better quality product. Thanks. Head unit has to be mp3 capable. (Aren't most, if not all, capable these days???)

Well if you ditch the stock deck for an aftermarket you can adjust the stock mach to sound good when cranked up, and adjust your sub seperately. I have a full infinity speaker upgrade ready to install in my car and Im not sure if it will even make that much of a difference the way I have it all adjusted. The mach system freakin rocks when tuned right.

I like the JVC KD-G510 HU. and the Cadence ZX-681 6x8's hooked to a Z4000 Cadence amp. Then the Cadence Beast 10 4 ohm, with the digital M3000 which is 500 bridge at 4 ohms. Cadence 4 gauge wire kit, also comes with distribution block so you can run more than one amp. Thats a nice drop in setup to work with. unless you want comps.

Thanks everyone. I am guessing that component would be the way to go so you can retain all the stock locations? I checked around about changing the head unit and speakers only and using the stock amps, but was told that you cant do it due to how everything is wired up. One reputable shop advised that the best way to go is to strip the Mach stuff and go new w/everything. I really wanted a head unit that could play DVD/MPEG, but I really don't drive the car that much and she isn't show quality, so why spend that kind of money. Again, thanx for all the help.
Oh, if I go w/all new stuff the plan was to use two amps (matching) so I can get them hung on the rear seat delete kit. I have a 5.0 cutout in the center and was hoping it wasn't to "ricey" to mount them on each side. Here's a pic of the rear seat delete board. It is made out of MDF board and is quite durable.

Mach460 PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN??????????
I have a stock 94 gt convert. with the mach460 stereo with an aftermarket panasonic head unit. the head unit has a built in pre-amp. everything worked fine until I blew one of the door woofers. I replaced them with kenwood coaxial 2-way speakers, rated at 4 ohms. Now when the car is running, it seems that the bass amp on the drivers side will cutt out, and when I turn the volume down it will start working again? The strange part is that it only does it when the engine is running? I have also had an intermittent problem when the volume is turned very low I I get a loud humming engine noise through the woofers, my mechanic said it was probably the condesor on the distributor. I don't know if I should change back to the factory speakers, change the head unit, or what???????? Please help, I am very annoyed with the whole situation
