Default dirty engine

This is kinda stupid question but is it possible to wash/clean a motor? My 88 stang's engine is really dusty and dirty looking. It makes the car look really old. is there a way you can clean out an engine?????

Yes you can. In fact we have covered this a few times.

Here is what I do.

Spray water on cool motor. Then spray whatever cleaning product you like. I have used degreaser, simple green, CDT engine cleaner, etc...

Let sit for 5 mins or so. Then brush whatever looks very soiled with a throw away brush or rag.

Then rise motor off. DO NOT USE FULL POWER when washing off. Just use a steady spray and move around alot, DO NOT STAY IN ONE PLACE LONG.

After this I start the motor and let it idle while I wash the outside or do the inside of the car.

Then let cool and apply whatever dressing you like on the rubber and plastic. I use PoorBoys Natural Look which you can see here http://www.spikemotoring.com/product.php?id_product=20

And then you are done. Now if its really bad it may take 1 or 2 washing to get it looking better. Just keep it up and you will be good.
