Painting Rims Black
I can't afford new rims right now, but I was thinking about getting my current ones painted black... Is this a bad idea or no?
For those of you who don't know what my car looks like, here are some pictures below. I have the "black" headlights, and I have the tint covers on my taillights (the second pic is kinda old).
Let me know what you think about getting the rims painted black.

Don't bother as nothing will make those haggard **** bag rims look good. Save up $200-300 and get used mustang GT wheels which can be had with tires for cheap on ebay, craigslist, etc... many times with tires on them too.

+1 No offense but your tires would probably look like dogshit painted black

Keep your eyes peeled on craigslist. I picked up a somewhat curbed up set of 96-97 Cobra wheels with good tires about a year ago for 200 bucks. Theres plenty of deals like that. The lower profile should make a noticeable difference in handling feel too.
On a side note, funny story. When I got my 87GT it had pony wheels that were painted black and it looked ok. I had a ricer kid tell me one time that my car looked JDM! Heres a pic of how it looked back then http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...er/Clears2.jpg
It was funny I had these honda kids telling me my car looked so sweet and how they don't even like mustangs at all

Well I used to be kind of over the pony wheel but like it more now. I've got 03 Cobras on my 87 now but I grabbed a set of the Mavromont 17X10 Pony R wheels that look just
like the old ponies but stretched out so that they are worth a crap. My understanding is I will have to beat in the inner fender and maybe some rolling of the outer lip. I figure it
will be a little bit more stealthy and different at the same time and 17X9s just didnt make the tremendous difference that I thought they would. If I ever jump on that project I'll
go pick up some matching 17X9s for the front.

I'd like to get some 17" wheels, maybe 18" if I see a good deal. I know my wheels have the 5 lug pattern or whatever but is it 17x9s I should be looking for?
Also, sweet deal on the Cobra rims. These ones make my mouth water.

17X8 or 17X9. Your GT wheels came in 16X7.5 and 17X8 from 94-04. The 03-04
Cobra were the only ones to come with 17X9 factory unless you are talking some
special R or FR model. I payed 500 for my 03's with tires used. If you just want a
bang for the buck upgrade look at GT and Cobra wheels in 17X8 because they have
gotten so cheap now. Look at craigslist as theres tons on there all the time.
