I'm fairly certain he means the molding in the middle of the door on some new-edges. I personally don't like them, but to each his/her own.

No he means literally a bar, not a decal. Its along the center of his door.

Not totally sure which years have them, knew someone with a 99 that had them and you have an 02...but not all 99's and 02's have them so i dont know. Think they are there to stop the doors that are thrown into your car by the ******** who park next to you. Will ding that strip up rather than your door.

I'd personally take it off cause I like the cleaner look, but I have no clue how they are held on there or what kind of condition the paint will be under there, so you may not be able to.

Agreed. They are on some 05+ models, too.

My uncle has the molding on his 03 and I cant stand it. It just doesnt look right. Take it off. Should just be held on by some double sided tape type stuff.

My friend had it on both his 00 and 99, took it off both and it looked much better. Heatgun/hairdryer and floss are your friends.

I know a guy that works at my job that has an '01 White w/black convertible GT with those stripes. I don't think they look gay. I personally wouldn't care if they were on my car. I think it "fills" in the door more, and adds something to differentiate with between the other Mustangs out there. I wouldn't try to take it off though. I imagine its just held in place with some strong adhesive.

They saved my friends '93 Camaro's door before. My passenger and him, in his car, both opened there doors at the same time, and luckily, it was the edge of my door that hit his little strip. He licked his fingers and rubbed off the smear that was left on the strip. It didn't affect it at all.

Hmm, cool, i see alot of mustangs without that, but i like the idea of it providing protection from "********" who cant park n stuff. BUT thats the only reason i'll be leaving it.. I'll measure to see how far it sticks out as compared to the body lines. then go from there, and if it doesnt stick out much more then ill just try n remove it. Thanks guys!

I don't think that molding is protection from inconsiderate people or any other accident. I think it's mainly a visual addition. If someone slams your car hard enough, that molding will not matter. Especially if it's another car that can't park. Car + stupid person driving + stupid person that can't park + little piece of molding on car = fucked up car. It might help when it comes to shopping carts, but that's about it. And it's not like the molding is on any other part of the car. The door isn't the only place where people can hit it.
