Default Hood scoop advice

Brand new to this site and forums in general..... Does anyone have advice on after market hood scoops? We have an '05 GT Convertible, and would like to add a scoop, have seen 2, the Rousch & Xenon only by pictures on the web. Any advice/warnings would be welcome - Thanks. Rob & Heidi

Roush is OEM quality. Xenon is intended for the aftermarket. I always look to OEM types first. The fit and finish is always better and the parts are normally urethane rather than fibreglass.

I'd avoid fg alltogether. I've never been happy with it on street cars... chips easy, repair is hard and no painter I've ever dealt with would warranty their work on fibreglass.

SLP also makes a scoop for the 05+
but the question is do you want the scoop for looks or do you want it to be functional?

I bought the Xenon mainly due to cost. It isn't the straightest part when it comes in, but all I had to do was set it on the car in the sun and it molded perfectly in about 10 minutes. Of course my car is black so it got hot fast. I fit mine, then had it painted, then refitted it. Then I removed it and applied the two sided tape as instructed, then fitted it again. Then I added masking tape to the corners to basically mark the correct position, then lift one side to start removing the cover on the tape. Mine turned out well.

I have the roush scoop and it is awesome. Got it from roush painted for around 260 i think. the paint is a perfect match. it is very easy to install and came with a template that you just match up with the hood centerline and it has cutouts that go over the winshield washer nozzles so you cant mess up

I wouldnt trust it with just tape personally, I would want it to be mounted with hardware somehow. I can just see it getting flown going down the road!
