Default Spoiler Change

Looking to change out the rear spoiler on my 2002 GT. I would like to change it out to a Cobra 03'/04' style. This type has the brake light in the spoiler and the stock GT has it in the truck lid. Anybody ever done this and can it work?

The holes dont line up, which means you will need to paint trunk and spoiler.

I asssume that the deck truck lid is the same for the 2002 GT and the 03'/04'
cobra? Thanks.

yea it will work, and it does look awesome. but unless you want to spend 500+ on a spoiler, just go wingless or get mach 1 spoiler if you're into that look. If you insist on the 03/04 cobra spoiler though, i suggest looking for one in the classified section or on ebay.

Its the same trunk lid but different hole pattern. Your stock wing holes with be seen.

Yes, the trunklid is the same. You can use the two holes in the rear decklid from where the old gt spoiler was, but the two holes closest to the rear back glass will have to be filled in or plugged up.

You will also need to drill some new holes for the new spoiler and buy a 03-03 Cobra harness to connect the 3rd brake light to the existing harness in the car. It just plugs in.

Here's a pretty good write up on it...http://forums.stangnet.com/showthrea...+Cobra+spoiler

It's way too expensive just for a spoiler. By the time you get it painted, you have just spent $600 - $700. I got lucky and got mine for $100.

If I wear to do something with the Spoiler, I would go with the Steeda Spoiler for the 2001+

I think having no spoiler is ugly. Because it then pretty much looks like a V6.

I don't think it looks like a V6, but i don't like the look of no spoiler either. It just looks bare, and awkward.

Yeah it looks awkward because it looks like a regular car.

I had a 98 a few years back with a the stock spoiler, and then put on a BOSS Shinoda spoiler, and the view you gain from having a flat or lower spoiler or none at all is amazing after you have been used to one in your rearview
