Default More Confused then Ever....

So I read that Automotive deatiling sticky and I am completely lost when it comes to washing and detailing my car correctly. Hence, i thought I would ask some of the experts on here, some of the pics look so clean it is killing me that my black car is all dirty and shows swirl marks like crazy.

If you had to, what would be your ultimate detailing system that you would use and what would you get and where.

Price is not an option becasue I want my car to be that deep rich black again.

Thanks

Everyone on here has their own opinions on what works best for their car. Just experiment with different products and see what you like best. I know on black, my friend has a dodgedakota, and it was kinda faded. We clayed it and did the meguires 3 step wax system and it looked amazing. Most importantly you have to be realistic about how good it can look. If you have deeper than hairline scratches, you are prolly not gonna get rid of them without having the car buffed.

Welcome to the world of a black car (I have two of them). But, there is hope.

You will get tons of opions on what products to use, but fo sure this is what you need:

1 - A good clay bar

2 - A good paint cleaner

3 - A good polish and sealant

4 - A good carnuba or polymer wax.

From here, you just need to choose your brand.

I have used everything and you can't go wrong with Maguires 3-Step or the Mothers 3-Step. I refer Sonus products whenever possible and I generally mix Maguires stuff with Sonus. Also, invest in good quality applicators and towels.

If you do this, you will have great results with your black car:

1 - Wash with dish soap to get it REALLY clean and remove wax. Be sure to use quality soft water when final rinsing.

2 - Clay bar the entire car and use plenty of lube.

3 - Re-wash with dish soap.....use one with no scents added if possible. You can use a good quality car wash if you want. I use a special one-of product that is in beta-testing.

3 - Then, use the paint cleaner such as Sonus Paint Cleaner or Maguires (1st Step).

4 - Follow with a polish/sealer. I generally use Klasse AIO, but Maguires 2nd Step will work fine. Buff well.....this step is usually the hardest.

5 - Then, hit it with something like one or two thin coats of Maguires NXT. This will give the car durability.

6 - Top it off with 1 - 3 coats of the best possible Carnuba you can find. I use P-21S. It is about $35 a can is is one of the best waxes money can buy. Just lay one coat after the other. It is extremely easy to apply and buff off. I buff with a very high-quality Concourse Buffing Towel.

When you are done, it will look like a gel coat.

Sonus along with the P21 wax is the best I've used. The towles you use are the most important thing to keep inmind for not getting swirls. I purchase from Autopia-carcare.com they have almost you need. I just got re-supplied a few days ago.

Pretty much anything you get from Autopia is GREAT stuff. Look into brands like Klasse, Sonus, p21s, ect... and choose from their selection. Most importantly, read read read. Reading will explain what something does, and how to correctly use it and what kind of results may come of it.
