Default My stock speaker blew.......

I guess ive just been listening to too much Method Man and Biggie lately....

Now my speaker is making this bad rattling noise when the Bass hits. I have the Mach 460 system. Its the speaker thats in the door.

I pulled off the door panel to see if maybe it was just loose but it was on there tight. I guess its just blown. I looked on the cone for any punctures but there were none. I figure the thing has just over extended itself from so much bass.

What would be the best thing to do? Go to the dealer and buy a new one. I dont know hyow much they are....., go to autozone and buy one of their replacements (quality is horrible), or drop an aftermarket speaker in each door?

If I put aftermarket ones in there, what would be the best ones? I dont care about winning sound quality contests although I do want sharp sound. Would the stock speakers work just as good? I eventually want to have a nicer sound system in it but not soon.

Will they hookright up to the stock wiring?

Just from experience....

I think the Mach 460 is an EXCELLENT sound system. I've been told by many car audio stores that Ford made one of the best stock system's ever. Our speaker's are tough to match up with because they are 8 ohm. You're gonna drop a pretty penny in doing new speakers to exceed and even match the quality of the Mach 460.

I've blown the passenger door speaker and I got a new one on Ebay. So, with that said my advice is search Ebay for some Mach460 speakers. MAKE SURE they are Mach 460's.

So far I've been lucky. I have my pioneer 50 x 4 CD player running through the stock stuff. been pretty rough with it and they are still going strong

I would agree that the Mach460 is a pretty decent little factory system. Besides the head unit that is.. which mine broke twice and then I said **** it. I'd just go to Ford and get the good stuff
