Default Vortech + meth injection

So I've decided to start piecing together my supercharger kit. I picked up a lightning mass air flow sensor with bracket this weekend for $50. Probably start buying things little by little with the goal of buying a centrifugal style supercharger early next year. I'm thinking of going with a non intercooled vortech v3 possibly with meth injection. Anyone have this setup and do you like it? How much power/boost should I see? I'm shooting for 375hp/350tq. I currently have 70mm throttle body/plenum, longtubes, o/r x and catback.

depending what amount of boost youll be runing. at 10 pounds on a 4.6, i made 382rwhp non intercooled on meth.but since you have long tubes expect more at that level.

i was gonna say the stock 8 psi pulley probably wont get you to the 375 hp goal...meth injection is good till you run out of it than your car will yank timing once it sees those high intake temps. trust me when the car is heat soaked you will feel its powerloss.

What size pulley did you have?

Also do you guys know the size pulley that comes with the vortech kit? Also how long does a tank of the boost juice last?

It all depends on how you drive the car and how big of a tank you get for the meth kit. If you drive the car like you stole it of course the tank wont last too long.

typically a power pipe with the stock 3.6" pulley will get you 9 psi which will get you close to your hp goal...the long tubes will help out a lot.

if you dont run a power pipe than you will need a 3.4" pulley to run 10 psi non-intercooled...

this is if you get a V2-S or SQ trim vortech...i dont know much about the V3 besides the fact that they are self contained.

Friend currently has a vortech with meth injection, long tubes, no cats, dragon (i think?) tb, gears 5spd, and 10psi and put out something like 405 RWHP to the wheels.

You could go intercooled. You can get a DIY kit off ebay real cheap and they are actually pretty nice. I've read a lot of guys using the one I got and they like them. For the intercooler, all the piping you'll need, BOV with flange, it cost $190 shipped to my door. I will have everything installed next month hopefully. I'm going with a 3.33" pulley and see where that takes me. I highly suggest browsing around corral for parts. You can get lots of good stuff cheap.

i believe it was a 3.33 size
the way meth works is when your at open throttle, so if you drive normal its not being used. your tuner will set it to open at a certain rmp, which is usually set around 3500 rpms at WOT.so a tank will last a while and its very chep to buy.

i thought even the meth kits would run off of a vacuum/pressure switch. the 20 amp KB BAPs are set up to run on at 5 psi of boost if you have it hooked up that way. im going to look into getting a meth kit with my car since its so dam hot in arizona...im pretty sure my motor will pop since i will be picking up at least 20 hp even though i run a intercooler.

yeah, the Snow Performance kit I was looking at says it reads off the boost pressure for delivery.

I don't want to mess with an intercooler with the vortech which I why I was considering meth inj. After researching it more and more I'm still leaning towards it. I'm not worried about running out of the tank especially since it won't kick on until under boost. Snow's website says it should last about a tank of gas depending on settings of the system.

Now where do you guys mount the reservoir? Do they fit in the engine compartment?

yea stanger is right, shame on me,haha
i have the reservior mounted where the battery was, so most likely youll need to relocate the battery to the trunk, ill take a picture of mine tomorrow for a better visual. actually doing the intercooler is very simple with the vortech, only thing that suck was the welding in which i dont know how to do

i would feel safer with a intercooler and an aggressive tune over a meth kit...low level switch may fail the pump could fail or the atomizer could get plugged too many variables. i run 12 psi and i have a tune for 93 octane and is running max WOT timing at 17* if i get the slightest amount of detonation im sure a rod will get thrown my block since it still has stock internals. my california tune only has 13* of max WOT timing...so i think its more than safe for the crap gas we have here and in arizona.

That's cool I'm anxious to see a pic installed. I was thinking the battery relocation was a option but just wanted to see if it fit anywhere else.

I have seen people with there meth kit set up in the trunk so that is also a possibility instead of relocating the battery. If money isnt an issue I would look into an intercooler.

edit: Here is a link to a pic that a member over on svtp has his meth kit set up in the trunk...

You can mount that thing where ever you want really. I have seen them like they said in the trunk and in the engine bay. Some people put them where the battery was, or next to the coolant tank up top.
