There are FAR cheaper and better ways to put 6psi into your cobra. You didn't mention having built the block so your compression is a little high for running much boost without a methanol kit and you're going to be kinda pushing it anyway with boost on the stock bottom end. If you're bound and determined to have boost then I would really recommend you look at a vortech intercooled kit or a ATI Procharger kit (they come with an intercooler). I prefer the vortech setup but ATI is very competitively priced.

I'd say a 100 shot of nitrous will be just as good for your butt-o-meter and a shitload cheaper.

I've been in a car with an STS kit. I must say I was impressed. Not as much lag as I was expecting. Car sounded crazy as well since the owner didn't put any mufflers after the turbos

I only know one person who had an STS kit and he went through three turbos in less than two years.

The only time I've ever heard of an issue involving their turbos was when people hadn't set the kit up properly.

Lookin for first hand knowledge on this app. your info is helpful, and it will be sometime before i do another mod, just lookin for some thoughts from the ideas that i have been thinking of. Thanks audikillsbmw for your thoughts. and others. Still looking for other peoples thoughts..and FYI..im not stuck on turbo's, my mind is open to anything except Nos...just not a big fan of it. I was introduced to the STS by someone i know who was thinking about it also..and which i have notice alot of GM's have this more than Fords.

There are so many kits to choose from for these cars that I would never even bother with a STS kit. You could run a small amount of boost on the stock motor and be good to go. But your going to have to take off most of that exhaust system and get shorty headers and flip them around, etc,etc...

NOS is a brand, nitrous is what your talking about And there is nothing wrong with the bottle.

NOS , nitrous,N2O. toemato ~ tomato(you know what im sayin) im just not fond of it. To me...just my opinion..i think nitrous is cheating, fake HP...id rather be all motor. Agian, not tryin to start conflicts, just my thought. Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the STS turbo. Just gathering ideas for my next major power adder..

If you'd rather be "all motor" like you say...then why are you looking at forced induction at all?

STS Turbo kits are only for cars that can't fit turbos under the hood.

WTF would you want to run 5 times the length of piping to get less horsepower? There is no good answer to that question fyi.....

Stick to something much better and much less of a hassle like a Hellion Kit for turbos, or a Procharger/Vortech kit. I have rode in an STS GTO and it sucked, yes it was fast, BUT, I've been in single 61mm turbo GTOs that were much much faster and didn't have to worry about ripping the turbo or exhaust off when going over speed-bumps.

I don't care if none of us personally have one, logically rear-mounted turbos make no sense. You're wasting horsepower and materials.

ive got a cobra and have considered doing this because there is hardley any room to work under the hood as it is and i have a 5.4 in there now which makes it even tighter from side to side. and for those that say well a bunch of people have turbos on there well i give props to you guys if you did the work yourselves and also to people that have put headers on with the motor in the car in general because that is just a hassle all around haha. and for the price its the less expensive than everyone else by about 1 or 2k. plus all your money would be wasted for exhaust unless you went with a supercharger. just research it thoroughly and make your own decision but i say go for it and let me know how it turns out. my $.02.

Thank you for your .02 ....Lad's and Gent's, Im just getting advice on some ideas I've had. Like I have said before, this is my first V8 i've owned, and its a nice ride that I'd like to make my own. It seems to me, from what I've noticed within the short week I've been a part of this Mustang board..No matter what someone says or askes there is always someone thats a little more negitive than others.Seems like there is always someone out there that insists on showing that there are better than YOU! Expressing my thoughts on nitrous is just my opinion. I just dont like it. Probly because I dont know much about it, nor do I want to..im stubborn. But props to those who like it. And yet agian, just tring to get some advice on my car sence I really dont know much about it. Thanks to those who have helped.

I'm not being negative if your referring to me. Its just calling nitrous NOS or naws pisses me off because once the fast and furious movies came out thats all you ever hear people say.

You don't have to like nitrous and were not pushing it on, just telling you its not what you think its like.

We're not trying to prove that we're any better. I don't think anyone on here (maybe a select person or two) thinks they're any better than anyone else.

You asked us what would be the best way to get horsepower to your car. As far as everything goes we're just trying to help you out. If you go around calling nitrous NOS you're never going to get respect from anyone because they think you're some Fast and the Furious reject.

We're just trying to help you out.
