Default Supercharger thread

thougth I would make a thread relating to superchargers, and anyone with a question could post it here, and those in the know can chime in.

i'll go first:
i have a 01 gt with a 70mm throttle body, and accufab upper intake plenum.
what kind of supercharger can i get to bolt right up to these?
i dont want to have to have any other work done besides a supercharger 9 no prting, any of that stuff). i want to be able to strap it on there with a safe amount of boost, i believe a stock engine can take around 6-7 psi, right?
i would also like it to be realativly safe to the motor, so i would be wanting the inter and after cooler deals right?

what are the options,
eaton,
kenne belle,
vortech,
chime in anyone that knows.

If you want to use your exsisting intake then your choices are Vortech, Paxton, Pro charger, basically any centrifugal super charger. Kenne bell has it's own manifold.

i would get a basic non intercooled vortech kit. since you dont seem to want to do a lot of work (intercoolers are a bitch sometimes) and you dont want to make dangerous power levels for your stock motor.

agreed, get a centrifugal ....But, you dont really have to use an aftercooler YET....the way i heard it was that if you go higher than 10lbs of boost ( i think 12 to be exact), then you should look into an aftercooler to help reduce the heat produced and keep your power at a healthy level...

By the way, 10 is the max i would try on a centrifugal

you mean you wouldnt push past 10psi on a centrifugal blower? why is that.

personally i would be afraid of my piston rods flying through my block and have HEARD stories of people who did and wound up calling a tow truck..

But, that is just me. People who are willing to take the risk, then go for it. I just dont think i could

its not the boost levels to be concerned about. its the power levels. dont exceed 400 rwhp and youll be fine. unless you have bad luck, and something breaks anyway.

what about those mongoose kits over at modular powerhouse? is that a good deal?

HELL YEH
it is everything you need for 3770
i mean everything, except gauges you may want

i am ordering mine thursday to be exact, i will make sure to post numbers and plenty of pictures as everything arrives and such

learn how to make pics like that? just get her in a thong and snap them....upload them to your computer and share with us :-)

the kit is safe: tim hasnt lost 1 motor yet because he is conservative unlike most other tuners..i guarantee you it will be one of the safest kits you can buy

better yet, just send the pics to me and i will crop them for you :bunny:

only for a dyno tune..he sends a mail order tune and a sct xcalibrator2

check it on modularpowerhouse.com and look on the left at mongoose kits and you will see what i am referring to

i actually signed up there today and was anxiously awaiting people to reply to my questions!

if he sends you the tune with chip, do you pretty much have to send it back to account for other mods or do they take that info from you before you get it made?

and you get the sct with it? wow! guess that means i would have to ditch the predator. wait.. does this mean that the tune that comes with it is for the Sc, and the sct is there to correct anything else?

can you say newbie at SC? I know that you can lol :laughing5

normally you are safe at most going 8psi
Also getting an aftercooler or intercooler will add more hp.
If you hp range is getting higher than 420 tune it down.
Your also better off getting a forged internals anyway.
