vortech? kenne bell? im lost
Hey ive been lookin for a power adder recently and wondered what brand of supercharger would fit me well. ive got a 98 cobra, mostly stock with 4.30s. whats your opinion as a good s/c for less money?

The kenne bell is definitely more money, but it is a really good supercharger. Kenne bell is a roots style, so it replaces your upper intake manifold and bolts to your lower manifold. The votech is a centrifugal type so it has a hair bit of lag to it as it builds boost where as the kenne bell has boost almost instantly. With your 4.30's I would almost say go vortech since I couldn't even imagine how easy it would be to spin the tires with 4.30's and a roots type blower.

for the money most 4v guys go Vortec for abundance and lots of used kits on the market. Freind has 97 cobra just h-pipe and mufflers with 8-9psi Vortec kit made 445rwhp tuned back to 420's to keep the bottom end together. Hes got 4.10s and loves it.

Umm from what I know you need for the V6's: fuel pump, injectors, tune, maf, supercharger , intercooler( i think this is more of an option then a necessity, not sure though), spark plugs. I would imagine most of these parts you will need even for your cobra, just at a higher rating since you have more motor to feed.

ive had it for 2 years, and its the reason i work. not gonna lie im spoiled to have it, but ive got my job to pay for 2 things - insurance and mods. so ive got insurance down and have this extra money. which goes towards the mod fund. and the mod fund says i want a blower... so yeah, my decision and ive got the money. i just asked your opinion on whats a good blower to look at

Best bang for the buck get the vortech especially with your deeper gears. Call up Modular Powerhouse 770-591-0000 and get a price on their Vortech Mongoose kits. I know they are $3900 for the 99-04 GT's and that includes S or SQ Trim, Tune, focus fuel pump, 42# Injectors, 90mm MAF, spark plugs, IAT sensor, this is EVERYTHING you need to get it running and running SAFELY!

the boys are just showing they care... about your car heheh. You work for your toys like the rest of us so you'll probably make better decisions about how to misuse your toys than those that just have it all handed to them (like a certain M5 driver of late).
Realistically... it's going to cost you about the same to do a used blower as a new one unless you scam a screamin deal. I'd go new anyway since you're young and don't necessarily know exactly what you're looking at or what to look for. Later on after you've spent a couple more years learning the mechanics of it and getting to know a helluva lot more then you can go out and buy a used t-trim as an upgrade and save a little dough.
In the meantime, grab a standard aftercooled sq kit from vortech. I'd definitely try to get the vortech aftercooler kit or find an old used ATI intercooler kit that you can plumb in. Cobras have kinda high compression and the intercooler/aftercooler makes it easier to safely tune those big numbers everyone likes.

i had the vortech and it was fun but a twin screw is more fun...power at any rpm and you dont need steep gears...plus you can go through a fast food drive thru without having to cut the car off so the people can hear you...

I always pref. twin-screws over centri's. Unless cost is a big part of the decision, at most the difference in price is about 1-2k.
One is power...
The centri may give you higher PEAK hp, but a twin screw will give you a much higher AVERAGE gain throughout the RPMs at comparable boost levels. Meaning you can run taller gears than a centri, less shifting to keep your car in the powerband is a good thing.
Example. (These numbers are completely made up, they are just to explain the difference in the powerband of the two adders.)
Twin Vs. Centri
RPM;boost pressure
1000;2/0.78
1500;4/1.56
2000;8/2.34
2500;8/3.12
3000;8/3.9
3500;8/4.68
4000;8/5.46
4500;8/6.24
5000;8/7.02
5500;8/7.8
6000;8/8.58
6500;8/9.36
7000;8/10
Two is sound...
Centri- Higher frequency whine at idle, hard acceleration makes it almost silent in the newer models (actually I think the whine gets louder and higher piched, its just drowned out by the intake and exhaust).
Twin Screw- Almost silent at idle... hard acceleration gives you a nice, lower frequency whine.
Thats about it for my .2 cents.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I got anything wrong.
