So I do like Glocks.
So after hearing all of the hype about Glocks over the years I finally decided to try one out for myself. For a long time I thought I didn't like them......man was I wrong. I picked a NIB Glock 37 because it was at a price that I felt was just too good to pass up. I have only had it a couple weeks and I'm planning to add one of its brothers to my collection in the near future. I want to thank R3D for all of his insight as it made me more confident in my purchase.
So here is a pic of my new G37 with Nebo tactical light.

There are plans for adapters all over the web.
Got all of them up to the 36. They jumped the shark with the 36 and I stopped buying more after that.

Kimber makes nice guns but I can't call it suitable for institutional use. A 1911 is just too demanding of the operator and it's just too damned heavy for just 8 shots.

Were the students new to guns or were you training for a special group? I can def. see where it would be easier to teach with the Glock. I know the recoil on the P220 was much worse than the GLock 22 and rightfully so being a .45 vs a .40 I know what you mean as far as shooters having trouble with the hammer and the hammer release lever. It would be easy to screw up if your not paying attention.
My instructor would have us place a penny on the barrel of the gun and dry fire in attempts to keep certain shooters from flinching during the trigger pull. People shooting Glocks seemed to havemore control, then again I suppose it all depends on the shooter.

Glocks are alright, but if you haven't shot an XD or XD-m shoot those too. It all comes down to what feels better in your hand and I love my XD-45. I had a buddy of mine who has been all about glocks for god knows when, he shot the springfield and the next day he traded the his and went to a XD-40 sub compact.

If you did get one I'm not sure you would want to get caught with it. If I'm not mistaken I think its illegal to have a fully automatic weapon.

Not at all. A glock is a glock. They're all FINE weapons. The 36 was so small in the grip and is so uncontrollable with full power .45 loads and holds so little ammo and has such a wide slide profile that it completely fails at its goal of being a hideout gun. They also had the chance to use 1911 mags which would have been pimp but instead used their over expensive glock mags. If it held 9+ rounds in the mag I wouldn't gripe about them using their mag but with only 6 rounds, why engineer a new mag.

It's totally legal to own fully automatic weapons. Fill out BATF form 4, and pay your 200 dollar tax PER class 3 item, live in a Class 3 state, get your local sherrif or chief of police to say they're ok with it, pass a serious background check and then pay the 15000-35000 bucks (yes, I counted the zeros) that a transferrable (pre-1986 manufacture) Class 3 weapon costs and you're golden.

Unless you've ever actually tried to do such a thing without violating any law that'll put you in prison, you'd never know that it's ******' near impossible.
Here's a tip, the ONLY reason (the application asks you why you want it) that's valid for a civilian to use as to WHY you want a class 3 weapon is "Collection and Investment". Answer even a tiny bit differently than that and you won't get it.
