Its "slow" as far as bikes go, but I see nothing wrong with buying one, riding it for a year or two to learn on, and then selling it for about the same price you paid for it when you are ready to upgrade. But I guess you all started out driving super-charged 460 big block V8's when you 1st started driving cars too?
I never want to be unable to safely merge onto the highway. Thats why 250's arent good. simple. If you ride, you should know that there WILL be times where you need more than 40hp to survive or avoid something... Its just a fact.

No, I didn't want to jump on a Ducati 1198 or GSX-R Hayabusa 1300 yet, but I feel safe and confident enough to want to.

You're right Nick, the parts are cheap, but also you can get any other part cheaper if you look around. I paid $10 or so for my HID's that cost $100 + easy. Paid $10 or $20 for left and right mirror and they're worth WAY more then that I believe. E-Bay, CraigsList and waiting for the win. Paid $4,000 for my bike that's worth $6,00 easy, brand new plates, stickers, plate number/letters, came with a few brand new parts ect. One of my Dist that works for my company, his friend got an R1 for like around $3,000 and it's WAY more worth it then that. Now he's trying to sell it because he lost his job. Wish I had the money. :/

Lets see some pictures of your bike Nick.
I only have old cellphone pictures with me from when the STR came home to attach, but the green bike is my Ninja 250R and the gray bike is my 675 StreetTriple R. I also attached a mockup of my STR I made to see what it would look like with its current mods before I bought them.

I agree that most 250's are sucky and I would never take them on the highway, and I will also agree that a faster bike will accelerate faster making it "safer" if you need to shoot ahead to avoid a collision. But I will stick by the fact that I have never had a problem merging or avoiding anything on the highway on the 250R. It just requires a slightly different riding style then the larger displacement bikes...ie you shift a lot and downshift to stay in the 7,000-12,500 RPM range when you need power. The 250R is not your average 250cc bike...it is an extremely capable bike for what it is...and it is extremely fun to ride. I'm not saying its for everyone...I also have a 675cc bike...but at the same time it irks me that there is so much negativity toward it mostly from people that assume it must suck without riding one cause it is only a 250cc.

What I really want to know is, Badfish...did the CBR come in that matte black color or is that custom? Cause damn that looks good.

Thanks...I was actually torn between getting a CBR600RR or a Daytona 675 the past few years, but eventually decided to go with the naked "street-fighter" look. And they don't sell the naked CBR in the US anymore, so that made my decision easy.

Figured the matte was custom...never saw one like that before...I'm huge fan of CBR's and that's definitely one of the sexiest I've seen. I have a friend that is obsessed with eventually painting everything he owns matte black. I'm pretty sure if I showed him those pics, his bike current bike would be matte black the next time I saw it. LOL
