Got to drive my dad's Stingray today.
Took it out and gave it a quick detailing, then took it for a spin, first time the car's been driving since November and the most miles put on it at one time in about 6 years. (Only drove 10 miles..tops. lol)

I must say, this car is amazing. The lower rpms sound absolutely beautiful. It is an auto though, which is unfortunate, but it doesn't **** around. 1st gear in it doesn't seem much more powerful than my car but once it shifts into second it goes from 30mph to 60mph like no one's business. It shifted and I looked down and was approaching 70 . Took it around with my friend and we got a LOT of looks, lol. We had to drive by the mall for all of the ricers, bunch of little kids and their parents and even the ricers just stared at it. Guy next to me in a motorcycle at a light started talking to me, guy in VW Beetle behind me was pointing at it and talking to his wife about something. And a guy in a z28 camaro gave me a thumbs up. I was like 'wtf' until I realized I was driving a GM, so I just waved. Definitely a fun ride, he might let me take it out again tomorrow or tuesday to get some better photos of it.
Cliffnotes: 76 vette > v6 stang, now I know why everyone loves corvettes, now I know why corvette drivers have inflated egos, sex on wheels, t-tops are awesome, 32 year old IRS > 8 year old live axle, the guy in the miata didn't have **** on me.

Haha, thanks and yeah it's really nice. I can't wait to drive it again! Right now I'm looking for exhausts for my dad since he's got some leaks in his mufflers. Can't find any good stainless steel ones.

If i was him i'd take the mufflers out. haha.

Haha, yeah, I want him to get the side exhaust setup that goes straight from the headers to the tubes on the sides of the car, like the latter 60's stingrays. That'd be sweet, but he wants to keep it looking original.
Look at this ****, 4 pages of ******* flowmaster mufflers

whew! that is a fantastic looking car. out of all of the cars that GM makes, the stingray has *always* been my favorite. the lines on the stingray flow so well. it's really just one of those cars as a kid you look at and you imagine it coming out of a comic book.

My stepfather Jeff had 69 Stingray Corvette. He was gonna rebuild the frame ground up and the same with the engine. But he also has 66 Chevy Chevelle in the driveway, plus his 911 Porsche Turbo. Time and luxury he didn't have, so while the Corvette frame was complete with 4 tires, brakes, whole new suspension etc., he realized that he just couldn't do it anymore. So he sold it to a guy in Alabama who also has a Shelby Cobra in the garage. Now with the Chevelle his plans are the he's dropping in it 454 big block that will generate up to 500 hp and torque outta the ***.
I however am really excited to see this all happen.
here are some pics of the Chevelle, the Big block, the Corvette and the Corvette frame.

Stingrays are very nice, but I'm a bigger fan of the 60's vettes...the two tone paint and the way the body style is...mmmmm nice stuff man
Now, I wouldn't buy a vette probably, would take the $$ and get another Stang :P but still nice dude!!!
