Default Need Help!!!

I had something really weird happen to me today. and wanted to see if anyone out there has ever heard of this. I stopped at the store today, left the car running. Got in it put it in reverse, stopped, clutch tried to put it in 1st and my shifter wouldnt move..It was like stuck...I sat there and jacked with it for a few minutes and nothing.. I decided to call a tow truck. While the guy was loading it onto the truck it I was toying with the shifter.. It went back to normal. Any body have any idea what happened or why? I have never had this happen before on any manual tranny...:wallbash:

Shifter got stuck... it happens. Mine was like that once and I was at work at the dealership and I had to have our service manager come out. He just put some elbow grease in and wiggled it loose. I thought I had to replace a shift fork or mabye some syncros because I was feeling a little spirited on the way to work. its not even 2 miles and pretty much down the road and turn and keep going.

youll be alright unless you experience different shifting problems.

im not at the shop now so i cant tell you exactly what is wrong but you can call your local dealer ship and ask them to look up the TSB for it. I am positive there is one for my 99 for the same thing happening so i would assume its the same problem with yours. I am at school till Friday so if you can wait that long I'll try to remember and look it up and post it for you.

Default TSB's are your friend

the TSB is Reference # 01-23-5 . It states "Some vehicles equipped with the T-45 transmission may exhibit a condition of being stuck in reverse, difficult to shift into reverse of my pop out of reverse. This is caused by the 5th/Reverse Gear Shift Fork." It applies to 1996-2001 mustang. should give you an idea of what your dealing with or what to tell the repair shop.
