Default question about engine

i was wondering if there are any type of restricters or anything like that on the mustang gt engines, or anything that will limit my car for that matter?

Any handheld reprogrammer or dyno tune will be able to fix that for you.

Its your rev limiter that limits your speed.

They are all mail order tune (besides the dyno tune obviously). You just tell them the performance mods of the vehicle, computer code, and vehicle year/transmition and you get it back and plug it in, hit about 3 buttons and you are good to go.
Its really really easy...

verts have the speed limiter because serious injury can occur if in a wreck with them.

Yea, I bet the insurance industry had something to do with this.

Unless your car came with the optional high performance z rated goodyears you have a limiter. If you got the z rated goodyears like every set of bullit rims has then you dont have one.

Sorry i forgot to add that in my first post.

my 01 and 03 coupes didn't show a speed limiter all the way to 148 where I lifted (only had 2 miles left to stop). As I understand it though GT coupes are electronically limited to 155, just like the cobra and cobra R. Verts may have a different limit... dunno.

I do know that if you get a stock suspension GT up to 140 they get so floaty and skittish you'll probably wet yourself and then lift. I went till I was drag limited with upgraded suspension and it was still an uncomfortable feeling.

With my CO's it's totally smooth and easy past 130 all the way to 145... haven't been at or above that in a while though.

Hey Saleen S330... I have a couple questions for you... what kind of front springs are you using, in general how's 5th gear acceleration w/ the 5.4L compared to the 4.6, what gears are you using, and have you dyno'd your car with the 5.4 yet?

We now return to our normal programming.

HaHa mine went 150+ on the spray. I have stock tune and I didnt have a speed limiter cut it off.

Also the car was pretty stable going in a straight line but I wouldnt dare try to go into a slight curve or anything. I had bald Nitto DR's on at the time.

That was 140 before the 5.4

Right now i have the H&R springs front and rear. Dropping in the Tubular K member helped alot on some of the weight loss. I have FRP 3.73's currently in the rear. I still haven't started her yet, just got in, a few days ago, all of the new coolant and heater hoses, new radiator, new fan, new coolant sensor, new coolant overflow tank, new crank and cam position sensors. Due to the rain and cold, I'm waiting for a nice day to finish it up, but will keep you posted on it. And i will have it dyno and tuned not to long after that and will post the dyno results. Keep me informed on the intake...sweet.
