Anyone intrested in 5.4L swaps, in here. Need you to opine.
yea, and PATS activation is quite the inconvenience... If it was PATS, you wouldn't be getting spark either, so that's something you could test for. PATS cuts fuel AND spark, so if you're getting spark, it's rules out PATS.
you have either a ground or a Crank sensor or cam sensor that's not getting signal.
BTW... my motor, 2000 shipped with heads and cams which are just there to seal the cylinders (don't advise using them). Includes my tr3650 tranny, and my fidanza aluminum flywheel with new friction surface, also includes anything else I can stick on the pallet from my aftermarket parts bin.
Offer is valid for 14 days then I'm throwing the motor away.

Beeline guys,
I just finished my swap but car will not idle unless foot on gas pedal. Am I on the right track by getting a new tune which is being created as I wait. I knew 4.6 tune wouldn't run right but didn't figure it wouldn't idle at all. Only stick maf was retained. Everything else been upgraded and egr has been removed. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated because ring now car will not leave the garage like it is. Runs extremely rich.

blazr92: that's entirely in the tune. Mine was just like that before I got my baseline tune on it. Plan on it stalling when you turn on the AC and hit the brakes too... that's in the tune as well.
Thanks RD3. I guess I am trying to make my PCM do way too much. I have different heads, cams, intake, injectors, and throttle body along with bigger motor. I got first tune and still no crank or idle. Waiting on next attempt. Anyone have suggestions that I can give my tuner to get the baseline close so it will crank and idle. I have faith in the tuner based on his reputation but this might be a true test of his abilities. I have alot of fuel being dumped in the exhaust. Thanks guys.
blazr92............don't waste your time with mail order and datalogs. Tow it to an area chassis dyno and have them do it in person. Waaaaay cheaper and faster and better!! Trust me, I speak from experience!
update!
It seems the slapdick that sold me an ECU harness from an "03-04" cobra actually sold me a GT harness he converted to work with an 03-04 ECU.
A couple of hours from a friend who is a Ford tech discovered the CCRM was not getting power and not telling the fuel pumps to turn on. Problem solved and the car is running great! Here are a couple fo pics during the install
I homemade a set of sway bar relocators and k-member spacers. With the k-member spacers and the cobra r motor mounts dropped the engine enough it now clears the brake booster without having to cut out a section of the coil cover. It also fits under my stock saleen hood!

Alright guys, new guy here.
I've been seriously considering doing this swap. Started doing some research about a week ago, and pretty much every single discussion about it inevitably points to this monster of a thread. I've read through some of it in the past couple of days, looking for info, but it seems easier to just introduce myself and ask some questions.
I'm stationed at Travis AFB in California, and I've got an '02 GT. Car is almost completely stock. I've had it for nearly 5 years, but as I was formerly a poor college student, I never did anything with it. Now I want to start making some changes, and this seems like a unique way to go, and who can pass up all that torque?
I'm still in the research and planning stages, and I don't plan on doing any work until Spring of 2012. I'm really just curious about the best way to go about this, and I figured the more I know before I start the better off I'l be . . .
I've considered looking for a block and buying parts and putting it all together, but truth be told, I've never taken on a project like this. So I've also considered just buying a built block with all forged internals from JLP or Manny's Performance.
I'm not going to be able to afford to do everything at once, but ideally I'd running that block with some stage II heads and cams, initially. Would running the stock 4.6 heads and cams be a feasible option for a limited amount of time? It's my understanding that I can use all the accessories from my 4.6, at least until I'm making enough power to have to upgrade. Like I said, this is gonna have to be a long-term project that gets pieced together, and not something I can do all at once, unfortunately.
Also, at some point down the road, I'd definitely like to add a blower into the mix, and so am looking to make sure I don't do anything that will make doing so a pain in the ***.
And overall, I'm just looking for thoughts and opinions from others that have completed the swap. Are you happy with the results you're getting? Is the swap worth it, over just building my 4.6?
Thanks in advance for any responses/help/thoughts I get.

Ideas Anyone ... ???
I wonder how hard it would be to get the 5.4 in a 1994 Thunderbird ...
Found one for sale for $2300.00 that needs a few small dings massaged and some TLC regarding the interior but It's a factory V-8 car and has that real pretty "pearl"-type white paint job.
Anybody got any input on this idea ...

Timing my cams tomorrow evening and pulling my gas tank back off the car to move some fuel lines around to some better places. I'll be pretty busy tomorrow afternoon. after the timing is set, I should be ready to get it all put together to go in the bay. That's when the magic will begin to take place.
Is 40 pounds of fuel pressure about where I need to be running? Just want to make sure I get that right before I do anything too crazy. I need to get a tune set up too.

Yep ... the non-PI 4.6 V-8 of 1994. It's a factory V-8 car with auto trans.

I made clearance for my intake.
My hood scoop covers it all up nicely though.
