Anyone on here done the Shelby GT500 swap. I was wondering what you did for a throttle body? Ford sells a cable TB for the GT500 motor but it is over $600. Another problem with using it is it doesnt have a IAC.

One more anyone know the guy who installed a GT500 motor in his 97 cobra? It is red and he used the factory 97 computer and built a custom intake on the drivers side?
Is he on here??

Looks like you made some progress ortiz. That block looks nasty though, I would have pulled it and cleaned it up lol. Then again, I'm so **** about everything being pretty under the hood. I'm even planning on stripping and repainting my block that's already been painted.

Yeah Nate had some leaks using adaptor plates and caused it to look like that. I had soooo much help from Eviloxide, i cant thank him enough. I grinded down the the boss since it was going to hit the alternator pulley, modify some stuff to make it work but everything else went pretty smooth.

Don't trip on this... it's not as bad as you think. You'll need an adapter plate and a 03 cobra TB. You'll need to rig up and IAC. It's just an air valve that allows air to pass behind the throttle blades with them closed. If your cable isn't long enough you can use a longer one. This may require a custom relocator bracket for the throttle cable retention bracket. Remember, this isn't rocket science. You're going to have to do a little fab.

BTW...
5.4 air&fuel complete assembly 1000 + shipping. Comes with:
HPS intake, 78MM BBK TB/Plenum, CPR rails, -8 feed hose, -6 filter, -8 crossover hose, 30lbs injectors, 80MM MAF (6-wire), 3.5" CAI. Includes all the clamps and fasteners I used. Regular price $1175+shipping, package deal 1000+shipping. That's a 175 dollar savings. HPS intake has rear coolant crossover already installed using -6AN braided stainless hose and aluminum fittings.

Comp XE270AH-13 232/238 .550/.550 109ICL 113LSA. They're a really nice easy street cam but they leave a little on the table if you don't set them up retarded a few degrees. They almost passed the gas test when it was smog time. California smog standards are notorious difficult.

Your gonna have to pull the motor. Its waaaaay to tight of a fit and will save you lots of time and headache. You wont have any luck getting those Valve Covers off ... tried it before haha

I had to grind down on the passenger side of the brace for the idler to spin freely since it was hitting it. I also made my own little intake with schedule 40 piping and reused my JLT MAF to intake rubber coupler. Throttle cable and cruise control cable didnt fit so i ordered a terminator tb cable from Ford. Wont be here till Wednesday. Tomorrow i get started with the heat exchanger and dual cobra pumps.

That or the hood scoop that Tork Tech sells. Here is a side shot of where you would need the clearance from.

thats just from the adapter plate. The spacers would be a good idea for huim though to give it the stock(ish) height though

Got to finish all the intercooling lines, wired the pump, but one of my hoses is too short. Im going to have to buy one tomorrow. The clamps i had were too short as well so i will need some of them too. I bought a much bigger idler pulley to give it more tension and give it a stock look too. Here are some pics.

It is possible (I've done it), but a major, major PITA to get the valve covers off. If I remember correctly (been a long damn time) I loosened the nuts holder the master cylinder under the dash to allow it to move sideways a bit.

Yeah you will definately have to atleast loosen the MC. I would just just the thing all the way up. put in on stands and lower it out with K-member/tranny attached lol. I hate our damn Valve Covers and how close they are the the strut towers and MC

Im done with 99% of it. I have to top it all off with coolant, have to wait for my tb cable and put new fuel on it. I dont know why it looks like the metal on the front (1st pic) looks like its standing but i can assure you that its flat to let plenty of fuel in. I also hit the **** out of my tank to make my own sump. I also put in a baffle for my dual pumps using a 2.5 gallon gas can.
