I don't mean to interrupt but I haven't been on here for awhile so I thought I would share my progress.
I picked up a turbo kit a few months ago and just finished things up and got it tuned a couple days ago. The single turbo kit's piping took a ton of cutting and tig welding to make it fit the 5.4 but it was worth it.
Laid down 397.2 rwhp and 463.6 rwtq on the mustang dyno. Boost stayed between 6 and 7 pounds which is kinda low but I want it to stay together.

I'm hoping the stock bottom end holds for a season because I plan on going forged next winter.
I pick the car up later today so I should be out frying some rubber later on.

Still sitting on the 5.4 engine..nothing to be done to it till at least after x-mas when people want more remodels done for work.

With this engine sitting at 120 xxx , i might as well buy some newer guts... I am not going to dump a whole lota money into the engine to get it going..but at least for starters i would like to get that hardballer intake to keep it under the stock hood...maybe cams...and thats about it... then tune until more money flows.

tommy, working on a dyno sim for you.

mean330: killer numbers. what heads and cams are you running?

Omaha: Check out TMD on ebay. Search for "6.658 rod". They have some of the best prices going for forged goodies.

still waiting for my intercooler pump to arrive. in the meantime, it's kinda cold today so may not do much/anything on the car. I have to get my ****** saturn smogged and an oil change done today anyway. booooo

I can only wish i make similar numbers at 8-9 Psi with the Eaton...

What all is done to the 5.4?

Default fuel question for the boosted 5.4 guys

I am doing an L swap on my 5.4 this winter. I am looking at fuel pump setups.i I want to keep it as cheap and simple as possible. Will a single GT supercar pump be enough and will it work with a simgle unmodified FPDM?? I have a 5.4, L supercharger, comp cams 270's, Partiot stage II heads, FRPP shorties with an off road x pipe and a 4 lb lower and a cold air kit. I really don't want to swap tanks or wire up another FPDM if at all possible. What do you boosted 5.4 swappers have for a setup and how does it work for you?? Thanks

I am running a magna fuel pump and boost senstive(1:1) regulator, I sumped the factory tankand ran a -8an feed line to the front and adapted the factory line to -6 for a return, I then installed factory fuel filter in backwards, and from sump to tank I ran a -10an line to feed the new pump behind the rear bumper, I cut a crome Small block chevy alternator bracket for a support arm to mount the new pump and filter in between the rear bumper and tank off of the right rear tank strap bolt. Up front I used Edelbrock rails, Siemens small style 60lb injectors, and Jegs fittings. A jegs -8 "T" to feed the rear of both rails with -8 lines, a -6 line from driver side to passenger side where the regulator is mounted with one of its inlets right at the passenger fuel rail.

This all sounds like WAY more than I bargined for! I can't believe you need that big of a feed line! If you look in the Lightning fuel rail where the inlet attaches, there is a MAYBE 1/4" hole in the rail. All of that flow is choked down at that point so feeding a 1/2 line into a 1/4" hole doesn't seem to make much sense??

if you keep the boost down to around 8-10lbs you'll get away with a svt focus pump on your stock system. If you bump up to around 12-14lbs you'll need a Aviator pump. If you get much bigger than that on boost you may need to do a dual pump setup.

yes and yes. I use a 2000 Expedition front cover. Most of us use NA truck front covers.

you need volume, not pressure. The big hose feeding small hoses keeps the volume up and dampens pulses, especially when you floor it all sudden like. don't trip.... some of these guys have bigger plans down the road or make gobs of power. For you, grab an aviator pump and you should be ok (the aviator pump from 03/04 flows 277lph. The SVT focus pump flows like 220 and taps out around 450rwhp.

How about a single ford gt pump. If I'm not mistaken they can flow 310lph and should be plenty for what your looking to do. Upgrade rails and lines later if necessary. I'm around 460 engine horsepower and my tuner said there is some headroom left on mine.

Yeah I can PM you with a few details.. I got the fuel pump from Brennspeed for like $150 and injectors from a local guy. PMAS HPX came from VMPtuning.

I went big on the fuel lines and rails knowing I was going to turn up the wick, Dont use the ford GT pump, it doesnt fit the Mustang tank without modification. If you must try the gt pump I have two of them here. $20 bucks plus shipping. My current setup which has only been tuned by me with a wide band on the street is pushing 18 psi. boost. After new years its going on the dyno. I just put an Art Carr powerglide, brake and converter in it. Cant wait to see what kinda numbers it will lay down. Also going to inject water/meth. Goal is to get timing back up around 25 at full boost. Its around 10 right now with 91 octane and addative.

Default multi quote from the above posts

I thought I saw that the GT supercar pump os 265 LPH. I thought the Aviator pump was also 265 LPH. I saw a writeup on installing the GT pump in a Mustang and you use the pump only and transfer it into the Mustang hat assy. I have a 4 lb lower so I think that will put me at 12-14 lb area. I'd REALLY like to get away with a single GT pump and use my stock unmodified FPDM. I really don't want to mess with the dual pump and duap FPDM. I am pushing my limits at that bec. my shortblock is a stocker out of an E-250. I want to get this up and running and then look at rods and pistons some time down the road. I am asking around and researching as much as possible and seeing what people have to say.

I did a HOW TO on Ford Muscle Dot Com. on installing the Ford GT pump in a mustang hat. It isnt a drop in, wires need to be cut and crimped/soldered. The outlet need cut off the new pump and an adapter made so it will mate will the mustangs canister hat. The fuel filter at the bottom is way different and has to be swapped. The whole thing was kinda cheezy I thought, but it worked for the time being and really wished I'd had just went for the complete kit like i have now, From the Start. Instead I bought a JUNK BG mighty sumo pump fought it and ended up getting refund, went to magna fuel pump and am very happy. I did keep the BG regulator when I sent everything back. haha....ooops

There ya go, snag up one of cdjnight's Ford gt pumps for cheap. If you happen to reach it's limit run a boost a pump and you would only have a few hundred invested.

I thought the install was pretty easy but I used a 1 foot piece of Gates 5/16 submersible fuel line from the pump to the hat and left the sock filter on the ford gt pump. The only thing I did with the basket was drill a few holes in it to prevent the pump from sucking it dry.

Cool. Planning on the GT supercar pump and stock FPDM. I will keep the wick turned down enough for that to suffice for now and deal with upgrades later.

How difficult would it be to put a 03/04 cobra t56 onto my 5.4?

Clutch issues etc etc.
Thanks

very easy actually. It's all big parts. Everything bolts in. You'll need a new DS yoke, T56 clutch setup, 11" flywheel, crossmember and a shifter.

BTW... I have a T56 Pro-5.0 shifter with handle for sale cheap. Near new.
