How much do you think I'd pay for some used parts to fit up the supercharger on the 03/04 cobra? It would be:

plenum
throttle body
fuel rail
intercooler
o-ring tubes
water manifold (for the intercooler, not the crossover tube for the engine coolant)
lower intake
intercooler res
pump
heat exhcanger
stock lower pulley

I'm thinking around 1400? The lower intake and intercooler being the harder to find.

I live west of Baltimore in Maryland.

I also imagine the auto should not be a problem since the patterns are the same.

I have to go take some pics of some heads tonight, and am going to FINALLY get some pictures up of the swap as well as a video
Cant help ya on the auto tranny, but should be a boltin affair same as the 5 speed.

Im about 4 hours or so south of you, give or take 30 min to an hour. The auto shouldnt be any issue at all and you "should" be able to drive and put as many miles on it as needed until you can get a tune. I can tell it needs a tune pretty bad, as it starts to die out pretty quick after 4500. Id guess Im in the same boat as the guys at MM&FF were when they installed theres, with the stock tune it started going downhill pretty quick at a low rpm, then picked up a buttload of power with just a tune and extended the rpm range quite a bit. They made 271whp through an auto with less compression than mine has(buy quite a bit) and a good intake, Id imagine 300whp with this engine and 350-360wtq shouldnt be an issue with a spot on tune and a good intake.
However, if it doesnt sell Ill be quite content in using the shortblock I have now. For a few hundred more Ill even do the install for you.

BTW, IMO r3ds car will pull on away from this stock cam/head car with the set of longtubes. I think 300whp is roughly what anyone is gonna get no matter what heads/cams are used until the longtubes and CORRECT intake are put on.

Heres a vid of the car, not sure why the camera sounds so shitty like its in and out, thats not the case. This engine runs a LOT smoother than the 4.6 EVER did. LOL, also dont mind all the dust that flys up when I rev it from behind the car, I just closed on my construction to permanent loan today so Ill finally have my own shop again!(Im just renting that one, it had been vacant for 6 years, hence all the dust on the floor)
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/3...360034f85d.htm

If you look close you can see some of the antifreeze that blew out the other night from the hose I didnt tighten up, look around the injectors and you will see it. I either didnt tighten it up or the hose needs to be replaced. It will all either be cleaned out from around the injectors if I decide to drive it while getting the parts together that I will need(few gaskets and an intake) or Ill get it out when I remove it, not sure yet.

R3d, how does that program work that you have? Id like to get a rough idea of what a
5.4 with flattops, with the navi heads(IIRC comp is about 9.8:1ish)
lightly ported navi heads/stock valves
96-98 cobra cams or 01 cobra cams
widened mach or cobra intake
stock headers(for a while) with x pipe and 1 chamber flows
full boltons
Kinda curiuos as to what I might expect to see. I know the mach1 guys are picking up 30hp with the 99-01 cobra cams so...
It's very accurate with accurate info fed into it. If you can get me the lift and duration and ICL and LSA for the cams I can work you out something more accurate. In the short term, expect 350rwhp or better and similar tq. I'd bet that with a decent cam set and good porting on the intake side you can see an easy 400rwhp/tq. Send me as much detail as you can about the cams, I'll figure out the heads and run you a simulation.

IIRC, all that runs about 4500 from Ford. Whatever you do, DO NOT ask Randy.. he hates that question cuz nobody ever believes him that it's not cost effective. I'm working on my Roush intake though and you could make that work a bit cheaper.

that's exactly what desktop dyno and all the results so far have shown. Stage 2 heads and cams and longtubes are worth up to 330 even with adapter plates in the mix... drop the plates and you may be able to find another 15hp or so.

Hmm thats pretty expensive, I'm eyeing the terminator replacement superchargers like the 2.8 by KB or the 3.4 by whipple, for the cost, it seems good, but thats a ton of money to put everything else together. Is there a cheaper alternative to hook one of the cobra superchargers up to an intercooled setup?

Id say your settings are good, it was in a shop I am renting and the lighting sucks plus my camera doesnt do a good video for some reason.
Its a dr.gas x pipe and 1 chamber flows turned down. Im going to be adding a set of 2.5" tips asap. I traded a buddy my stock catback with flows welded in for his 1 chamber turndowns, just havnt had a chance to get tips put on yet.

Craiger77, sounds good dude, I know you want be dissapointed. If you wanna check it out, lemme know when your coming and Ill be glad to give you a ride.

Getting back on topic, anyone else with the swap notice how the stock cruise controll system is VERY touchy now? I know its from the computer trying to keep within a speed window and it is used(or programed) to add XXX ammount of fuel and XXX amount of air. That XXX ammount is just right for the 4.6, but it litterly takes a blip of the throttle in 5th gear at any RPM to move the speedo a few numbers up. If theres one thing Im gonna miss about this engine its gotta be the torque down that low. Its just SICK. Hell, r3d's dyno sheet looks like a friggin diesel! This has got to be the best bang for the buck that can be done on a 2v 99 mustang gt, PERIOD.

EDIT: forgot to add, just put another 90 miles on it tonight going out to eat with the wife for her birthday

I think it's basically done. IIRC it costs like 3K for the whole intercooled kit.

EDIT: Minus the blower itself.

I might have missed something very obvious but in the SEMA section of the most recent 5.0 Mustang Mag there was a little blurp (and photo) about Professional Products making adapter plates "to run their 4.6L on a 5.4L". I'm only through page 80 or so of this thread and I've kept up with the recent posts in the past month and did a quick search and hadn't seen anyone mention PP as a supplier of the plates? Their website doesn't have anything listed, any inside insight?

Yeah... they're likely to be the same ones you'll find BOI selling on ebay. They're a good plate design... they're lighter and cheaper than RR plates and the gasket they use is a great sealer. I know of 1 guy that made 330 with the typhoon on plates but I also recall that the typhoon in place of a plastic PI intake cost Saleen S330 10hp from his baseline of 289 during our testing. I'm not entirely sold on the typhoon as a viable intake option. I want to see a PI intake on adapter plates on a car with stage 2 heads/cams and longtubes to get a decent baseline. 1 thing is likely though... the typhoon has shorter runners than the PI so it'll help head&cam upgraded cars shift the tq peak out to the middle of the rpm range which is normally a good thing for our uses. The early casting problems were few and solved and it's otherwise an ok made part. I just don't want none of that action.

look familiar

That's what I am thinking, I really don't want the PP intake but the adapter plates might save me a little coin and would work just fine with the PI intake, right?

sure will. Save up after that and toss on a HPS intake if you feel the need.

Or you could buy the 5.4 ready to drop in(from air filter to oilpan) for cheaper than you can source used parts

When people say swapping the 4.6L SOHC with a 5.4L SOHC, are they talking about the 2 or 3 valve? If they're talking about the 2 valve, how hard is the 3 valve, and in that case, would it just be better to go with the 4?

Either. Most of us are doing 2v but there's several doing 4v and 3v. Most 96-04 guys will do either 2v or 4v. 3v is not going to be too hard but it's certainly not trivial. Intake availability on a 3v would be an issue. Other than that 99-04 cars also have to do a VCT delete, cmcv delete, custom TB and custom throttle cable bracket (I think logan makes one). There are are few other minor issues but that's the gist of it.

So the basic answer to all your questions I guess would be yes. hehe.

Headed to the dyno friday for a tune

Anyone wanna guess the numbers?
only boltons are a filter(no the CAI, just the filter)
x pipe and flowmaster turndowns

Also gonna be tuning for the gas, 150-175 shot to start with. As my 4v 5.4 build nears completion Ill step it up to 200+ shot

Any guesses?

You think that high with x pipe, mufflers and a K&n? Wouldnt that be about 320 at the flywheel? Arent these things rated at 260hp from the factory?

260 but that's due to the truck intake (not like adaptor plates are better), single exhaust, and truck computer.
