Exhaust Question
This is a questions I know all of you have heard 1,000 times, but im putting alittle variation on it. I just got a 1998 GT with 21k original miles, all I want for it is a decent sound system, and a good sounding exhaust. I have been to MustangExhaust.com and listened to the clips, however, they have no completely answered my question. Ive been looking everywhere for a non biased answer, and ive been searching through videos on yahoo, dogpile, and every mustang webesite I can find. I am I college student, and I dont have much money. I am seriously considering trying to run without mufflers for alittle while.
I hear from some that to them running without mufflers is better than most exhaust kits, and some say it sounds like crap. I had a 95 vette that i put muffler elims on, and it sounded real nice.
What I am asking, if I yank of the mufflers, am I going to be sorry I did? I dont mind it being loud, actually, I PREFER its loud. However, I dont want it to sound horrible, in tone. If you know what I mean.
http://www.lmperformance.com/5372/50.html <---- I have seen these, but I have no clue what they do, (i apologize for being ignorant!)
I have been browsing this site for awhile now, and you guys, and girls, can always seem to help people out. Hopefully this is the same with me!
I thank you all in advance..

mustangs are sensative to back pressure - removing the exhaust or striaght piping can actually hurt performance - but still sound good - anywa the answer is this - no cats - long tube headers and flowmaster 40's - no muffler is going to sound "badass" with cats - i just want to sound LOUD AS HELL and not pick up performane than do this (its cheap 2) - a y pipe - yes A Y PIPE!!!- go to a larger diamter liek 3" use (1) super 40 flowmaster and your exhaust will be ungodly loud - it will be so retardedly loud people with think u have a nascar motor (no joke) - it will cost u about a 100 bucks for the whole thing installed - like i said if u just want to pimp and not race or add other stuff to the car then do this - I promise u will be happy with it if u love EXTREMELY LOUD EXHAUSTS- good luck

What do you think this guys exhaust set up is? personally i love the sound...
So is nobody in favor of just hackin' off those mufflers and welding pipes instead? My real question...how would this compare to SLP loudmouth lm1's?

In my area of dayton, OH, I've come across two 99-04 model GT's with what you're talking about. One elimated the catback all together and just had headers and stock H-pipe, sounded fine, but I personally like to see tips and know where the sound is coming from. The other ran turn downs right after some muffler
