Question 3.90 Gears Anyone Using them ???

I'm looking to install gears in my 03 GT 5spd soon. Ive read a thousand post on 3.73 and 4.10 gears. There are so many mixed reviews about them. Most complain that 4.10's are too much and the others seem to say 3.73's did not offer what they were looking for. Anyone using the 3.90 gears from Motive are any other manufactures??? Seems like they would be a nice in between ratio. Any advice on the 3.90's would be appreciated.

Default my opinion on gears

I installed 3.73 in my 01 convert with auto, they made a huge improvement. I have a set of 4.10 that I'm debating on installing. I believe that the lighter coupe with a five speed would be happier with the 3.73 set altough the 3.90 gears do sound like a nice compromise even for my set up

im going with 3.73 or 3.90's. Having 4.10's would stop me from eventually getting a supercharger.

If you plan on staying NA then I would go with 4:10's. I don't really think the difference in the two is worth worrying about. 3.90-4.10 is not that much. You can always go with the 4.10's and run a 26" slick at the track and then put on a 28" tall tire for the street..pretty much best of both worlds.

I remember 3.90 gears on cars in the 70's. I have not seen them advertised for late model mustangs. If they are available, let me know.

If so, I'd be interested in them. :icon_thum

No Dean is telling the truth about the 1300 ft DA. Thing is when he is done with his run, the DA is only 25 ft because his track is on a hill.

We sell the 3.90s on our site... lol

MustangTuning.com.

I recommend them for anyone on the fence deciding between 3.73 or 4.10
