Bassani

I have the Bassani X-Pipe and cat back and LOVE IT The only way the Bassani wouldn't be loud enough is if you left the baffles in. I like the choice of quiting the car down when at a funeral, or taking the baffles out and letting everyone know I have something for them. Of course they are out 99% of the time. Not sure how the headers would effect the sound. If you can go Bassani, DO IT!!!!

I have the bassani X with cats, and I'm now on Borla ProXS mufflers w/ dumps, all on factory manifolds.
Bassani makes good sound all by itself. You didn't mention which cat back you'd use. I've used stock GT, stock cobra, Flowmaster 2ch, SLP loudmouth II, straight pipe, and my latest Borla ProXS set.
Bassani catted x with flowmasters sounds incredible outside... painful inside. Really, it'll shake your nutz. replace the flows with stock mufflers and it sounds subdued and initially quiet with a nice roar at high rpm. Don't do straight pipe. I did that just to get across the street. It's LOUD. Stock 99-04 cobra muffs are a little less subdued than GT cans but, they give a little more restriction and a little less sound. SLP sound like crap... sorry they're poppy and raspy and sound like a ricer. Borlas are nice but have a little drone with no tailpipes to move the sound waves to the back of the car.
If you use tail pipes then you can assume that each of the above will sound totally different with tail pipes attached.
All in all, people used to stop me in parking lots to tell me how great bassani x with dumped flowmasters sounded. I much much prefer anything else to flows... they just hurt at 1800-2200 rpm. My borlas are making me happy right now but I fear they won't sound as good when the power levels climb.
above all, any kind of header short of long tubes will not be worth it. The amount of time and money it takes to replace them isn't reflected by hp/tq increases, or better sound.

You can check out my sound clips of before and after
first I had just XLerator weld in mufflers. Then I added BBK shorties and an slp xpipe.

it will give you an idea of the change.
