This Forum does not support street racing.

how do you know hes racing on the street? i respect the no street racing policy here but if your racing at the track the answer is no. you need gears to make it a close race.

It is hard to say, lt1's came with 285 HP stock as compared to the 99+ stangs with 260, your current mods won't give you any advantage over him, but then again you said its a 95 and time takes it toll on any car! if you can drive you might have a chance! :icon_cycl

You can always go get some higher octane fuel like the 101's for just this event. It will make a difference.

if you can launch that 5sp, and drive the hell out of it I think you can take him, esp with his being an auto. I've taken many camaro's at the track, even ls1's(and there fast) due to a crappy driver.

He's got you out gunned. You will need a set of 4.10's and some sticky tires to beat him. They are not nearly as quick as the LS1's though. I raced alot of them when I had 3.73's and street tires and beat them up pretty good( I was running 13.7's). The automatic ones run mid 14's in stock trim I think. So if he's a decent driver and knows how to launch it he should be in the 13.7 to 14.2 range.
You can add 4.10's, x pipe and catback and slicks and run 13.00 with a 5 speed 2v p.i. GT. It's all driver, these cars are alot faster than people think once you know what to do and what not to do.

No way is that ar gunna run a 13.7. my freinds both have 94 auto z28's both have mid lenght headers, no cats and catbacks with a moroso CAI, one has control arms the other has an ignition upgrade. they both run high 13's 13.8-13.99 on spray they both are in the 12's with a 100 shot. If he just has a catback like it sound slike he will be in the 14's and you should be able to beat him. I beat my freinds z28's till around 115mph where they pass me(aka i am about ot go into 4th gear). and all i have is off road h-pipe,cai, mufflers, and Dr's. its that 3rd gear to 4th gear advantage that gets me above 110mph. and the fact that they have more HP.

Spike I assumed when he said that the guy had intake and exhaust he meant, headers and a real intake manifold. You are correct that they can run mid 14's, I've seen them run low 15's also, but I did not talk to the drivers, so I have no idea what mod's they were running.

Last year I went to the track and beat a mildly modded lt1 camaro, and I was completely stock (I did have sticky tires). You just have to be able to take him off the line. He stayed right on my quarter panel after the launch, but I won. :bootyshak

i say just race him and see were you stand, you could always race again after some future mods. good luck.
