Default First time at track.

My first time at the track was friday night. I raced my bullitt but only got two runs in!!! It seems my oil pressure switch was loose and t broke and started drippin oil. Had to stop but its fixed now. My time was terrible by the way because the guy started the tree before i was ready. 14.5 at 98 mph. I was on crappy street tires. I revved to 2000RPMS and did that badly what am i not doing?? I want my mid 13's!!! I have mac prochamber offroad, magnaflow catback, and an sct tune what do i need to do to get the mid to low 13's that i;m supposed to be getting? I did have faster times even with a 14.5 than every ricer out there!!! Oh well lmk.

Not possible at this time but regardless i have seen the same setup i have with the bullitt run a 13.7 or 13.6. Now it was hot summer night here in texas in San Antonio but i stiil think i should be runnin faster than 14.5 for sure. I think i could have but didn't have the time before i started drippin oil. Suggestions for drivin by the way my tuner is the Xcal 2. So please lmk. Did have fun smokin two ricers though in those two runs and seein the looks on their faces. Priceless.

dude, I am the king at drag racing woes. I was stoked to go to the strip for the first time a few months ago and after racing, I couldnt break 14.9. I never realized exactly how perfect the run needs to be just to be in the low 14's. I was thinking w/ my intake and exhaust that low 14's woudl be easy, but hellll no it aint. I either had too much wheelspin or bogged the car down and it didnt matter how perfect I shifted after, it was over. Trust me, it sucks to be one of the loudest cars there and not even run close towhat a stock stang runs. yo're very lucky to have gotten 14.5

Sorry man but youve got a gt with a few less pounds and 5 more HP. You wont break into the mid 13s with your setup. Those stock tires are garbage, switch to something better like pirelli pzeros and youll have a better time hooking with your suspention the bullitts have. If you pulled a 13.8, I think that would be a good job. Im sure your entire problem is off the line.

UH huh, the first 60 feet are crucial. Get some drag radials, then a shifter.

ughhh.. talk about crappy first times. mines was friday, also. sat at least an hour in the staging area cuz they were only running imports. ='( there was about a 1/4 mile of 2 lanes of domestics just sitting there. sooo finally got to run, i got the worst launch iv ever had, partially due to my crap tires.. i NEED new ones haha.. even if i rev to 1100 rpm they spin =( ANYWAY my first run was a 15.1@93, vs a lightening that did 14.3 @ 98. get back to the staging area, sit in line for another half hour to 45 minutes, run 2. much better launch, and a lot faster, i beat a '66(ish) mustang. then the bitch lost my slip!!!!!!!!!!!! *****.... its a **** track to, theres not a lot of grip =( oh well, ill get my intake, and better tires, then go run, and ill update ya later! =D

I also ran at the track for the first time Saturday night and boy was it fun. I wanted some baseline times and was hoping they would've been better but in the end it was fun. Working on your launch is so important. My stang is almost stock and was running on street tires and I was still spinning on the start. My best of the night was a 14.9@96.3. That was also where I had my best r/t of .347 and 60' of 2.2 and hopefully it'll get better from there.

Why wouldnt you use 3rd? Switching from 2nd to 4th puts you low in the powerband, then you just struggle to get back in it. Thats the most retarted advice ive ever heard...

Get yourself some nice tires with a traction rating of AA. Spin the rocks off a couple times out of the water pit. DO NOT GO IN IT. Launch at 1300-1500 rpm and go! I have pirelli pzero neros and use normal PSI at 32.

Thats what works for me. I get NO spin but I have 3.90s. This yeilds me 2 flat 60' times.

My r/t was .543 my 60 ft Crappy 2.3. My tires sre really crappy street tires. I was launching from 2000 and was gettin some pretty annoying tire spin. I will try launching from 1500 and 1100. In the next few months i will need new tires i dunno if i wanna go with dr's or not. If not than what street tires hook the best? If i do go with dr's then i will prolly go with street tire up front and nitto dr's out back. Is that a good setup or should i do dr's all the way around. I'm worried about usin dr's as my bullitt is my daily driver. I have my mods on the bullitt and was expecting to break into the 13's for sure. So i was kinda pissed but oh well please tell me what to do.

Sorry i ment to say with stock gears dont go out of 3rd. as in dont use 4th it will slow you down. with a mild 4.6 shift at around 5,500rpms and dont use 4th if you have stock gears would give the best results.

Personally I wouldnt use DRs for a daily driver. They have high tread wear. Id suggest a high performance tire instead. Go with something that has a traction rating of AA, and a tread wear rating of 250+. I have Pirelli PZero Nero m+s and these turn sticky at the track on the right days.

my dr's are used at the track only, ive always put them on there except for one time, it was an hour drive up there on them.

when i go to dd's ill use dr's at my daily driving tires, just because it looks so hawt lol

I been using Nitto Dr's as my daily tires for as long as i can remember. You won't have any problems unless they are bald and it starts to rain. I've had some fun times driving around in the rain on bald nittos!

weather has alot to do with it, if it was hot and humid you may lose over 3mph over a day that is 50* and dry. practice and shift points may help a little but as others have said before a shifter and DR's are a must for good ET's

Go all out and buy you some Mickey Thompsons DR's. ...I heard they are far superior to nitto dr's...
