Question Hand Held tunners

I am considering a hand held tunner. What do you guys personally think is the best. Does anybody have any nubers on how much hp/trq you gained, how the mpg chaned ect. Also is there anything I should look out for, because I feel comfortable in my modding ability, but when you start changing comp programs and curves I get a little scared. So I dont want something that I cant work If I'm not a professional tech.

Default Sct

I own the Diablo, and its a good unit, but if I were buying today I'd pick the SCT. Customer service and support is better, and they have more focus on the job - my opinion, of course.

As for what a tuner can do for you, it could:

1. Add the canned tune that will net you about 10hp or so (this depends on the individual car - some people claim a lot more), some extra torque too, and better resonse - particularly if you run premium fuel

2. Allow you to reconfigure your computer for your new gears (I see you have 3.73's), correcting your speedo

3. Alter or remove your rev limiter and speed limiter.

4. Read, clear and diagnose your OBD codes, if you need to.

5. Adjust your computer/speed for different size wheels/tires.

6. If you need to, you can adjust your air/fuel mixture and advance or retard your timing - very handy if you need different tune settings for occassional runs at the strip on race gas, or with nitrous, etc. I run 13 degrees advance with my setup, for example.

7. Adjust and firm up auto tranny shifts

8. Change settings when your cooling fans come on and off

9. Log data during testing or operation

Other things - I forget everything these things can do.
