Default Hand Held Tuners?

Alright another one of these questions,Ive seen plenty of people use em but only with an automatic. I know you can change the shift points and other stuff. but with a stick how much of a gain would i acctually see, and is it woth it? Also what is the best brand of programers out there?

Eventually as your mods grow, you will need a tuner. Personally, i had a diablo sport, and took it back and got an SCT. As for how much of a gain you will see, depends on who does your dyno tune. But in my opinion, yes they're worth it in the long run

I gained almost 15rwhp. So yeah it was worth it.

I have no clue how much i gained just by gettin a tuner, cuz i got my CAI, underdrives, exhaust, and tuner all at the same time, and had it dyno'd the same day. Either way, its still worth it, and with an SCT tuner, you can do so much with it.

so do they have like pre-set tunes in em?
or how does that work
my friend has a charger and he just plugs it in and I think it has a "performance" setting in it?

Your best bet is to get the SCT XCAL 3 from AM with 3 custom tunes.

I dont really know the specifics but everyone says to talk to justin at VMP tuning and he will make a tune specifically for your car.

Justin from VMP can email you the tune, and you just upload it into the tuner, and then tune the car with it. Really simple process, actually.

I can't remember exactly how much mine costed, but it wasn't more than $70 after everything was done. Worth every damn penny, too. Woke my car up and gave it the kick in the *** it desperately needed.

I saw a big difference with my xcal3 from AM. They pretuned it for me for the mods I have on my car. Was as easy as plugging it in and downloading to the cars computer. Took 5 minutes to load. On initial startup its rocky for like a minute and then its amazing. I felt a big boost in power on my 5speed. I think it is worth every penny.

The AM.com tuner is preloaded with what we call canned tunes or basic performance tunes. They are more aggressive then what your car has stock, but someone like VMP is going to have a better tune every time because he actually dyno tunes cars and has data and dyno run files to look at to make you a tune. If your gonna do anything more then a few bolt on's I would get a tuner from someone else. I love AM.com but lets face it they are not a custom tuning company.

AM tuner's state that their tunes are dyno-proven. Is that false?

Yes, by SCT they are dyno proven which is where the base tunes are made. Like I said you will gain power for sure. But a real tuner is going to build his own tunes and they are going to be better almost every time if he is a good tuner.

NOT WORTH IT. Use your money on different mods now, then get a custom tune later on once you are "done" modding. It will be a lot better HP increase and you will get a lot more out of every part you put in.
