Exclamation Long tube header Motor mount help

I just installed longtube headers on my 2001 Mustang gt and they only have a .125-.25 clearance off the frame. The problem is when clutching out of 1st i sometimes hear a clunk..the drivers side header is hitting the frame not good. Im wondering if new engine mounts from AM will fix or must i try to bend or dent stainless headers .I cant dent or cut out the section where i think its hitting because its on a bolt support .My car makes about 390 hp with all the mods if that helps...........ANYONE that has had a simular problem or advice please help me figure this out...........THXxxxxx

poly urethane will help, solid will fix it. You'll get a little more vibration but it's livable.

Well id really rather not have the vibration, but it looks like im gonna haft to go with the solids, my headers are way to close to the frame. I dont want to take a chance on ripping them off out of the hole..
Thx guys

Poly mounts help a ton. I'd suggest energy suspension mounts (better design). However, the ideal solution would be to mark the trouble spot on the header or body and use a BMF hammer to make the clearance. Applying heat also will help. Also, depending on the design (or luck), you may need to remove your headers whether you are banging or replacing mounts.

Way to edit the screaming CAPS out of the post I originally commented on by the way, real glad you realized you dick-ishness and instead try to make it look like I commented for no reason. Yet you forgot that my quote shows what you originally wrote so you still lose.

Bassman actually contributes a lot to this forum. You however do not, yet you come in here like a hot steaming pile of **** and start to boss people around when they're the ones trying to help you. It's called respect, you should go down the Wal-Mart and buy some I heard its one sale this week. Then you can come back and talk with the rest of the grown-ups.

Good day.

Lol. Mmk. We'll see about that one. Reread you're ORIGINAL message before you edited it and then talk to me about disrespect. Out of all people, you should not be using anything referring to respect when you can't even give it to those who are trying to help you. At least I'm not the one acting like a kid, maturity does not come with age and you're the obvious example of this.

Before you completely say that I'm useless, how about I explain. I had headers, and I had on the passenger side only enough clearance to slide a few sheets of paper in-between the tubes and k-member. I never had a problem initially with the rubber mounts, then, when I did, I switched over to poly and that helped. Now, the problem with solid is it will cause more vibrations, especially if the engine is far from stock or old. It can be livable, or it can remind how many loose parts are on your car. That's why i said the best solution would be to dent the tubes. Mounts are just a patched job for the real problem. You may not want to remove the headers to do it but that's the best solution.

Dreadsaw... STFU. I'm admin, you're n00b and I ain't lookin' into ****. You jumped on bassmans's back like white on rice when he was being helpful. You'd better cool it kiddo.

Bassman is correct btw. Mounts are a treatment not a true solution.

you could also put spacers 1/4" inbetween the k-member and body where they mount. this would give that much more clearence in there without changing anything else.

You have the correct answer.

I'm still wondering what brand headers he has.

I'm guessing they're not BBK, cuz if im not mistaken, they have that lil indention in them don't they? Maybe Pypes? I know they don't and i've heard of them having clearance issues like he's describing.

longtubes are hit and miss. even if you build them on a jig there's enough difference set to set to allow things like hitting the frame rail or tapping the steering shaft. This sort of **** is common and ALWAYS treated during or post install. That's the breaks.

I had to pound the floor up in my car to fit mine.
