Ram air intake kit 2005-2009 Mustang GT 4.6. Kit is constructed of high polished light weight aluminum. Tubing is 4" mandrel bent so all curves are very smooth and without ripples for maximum air flow. The rubber coupler for the throttle body is molded round for the tube on one side and molded oval for the throttle body for the other side. This kit also comes with an optional tube insert. With insert installed, custom tuning is not necessary. With insert not installed, custom tuning is required. We can provide the transfer function for you or your tuner.

From personal experience with this kit it is one of the nicest kits i have seen yet thats out there for the 05+ Mustangs, High Quality parts and Very easy to install.

Not to mention you can slap it on with no tuning required for instant tire burning horse power.Then can remove the insert and get it Dyno tuned to gain the full potential this Ram air Intake has to offer.

I've kind of been wondering the same thing... This is pretty much the same old CAI that's been around for the 197's forever... What gives?

 

^ I guess because this is technically as ram as you find for 05's+...? Cold air and ram air are pretty much the same thing after 04...

 

That's exactly what I was thinking. I always thought of this as a ram air intake...







and this as cold air intake.

• Ram air - these intakes will pull the air in from the engine bay. They are easier than a cold air intake to install, but since the air is coming from the engine bay, it will be hotter, which results in a lesser gain in horsepower.
  
• Cold air - these intakes relocate the air filter to the fenderwell. By doing this you will be pulling in colder air, which will give you a better gain in horsepower and torque.
  *The majority of our customers opt for the cold air intake.

 

^ Ohh, I've never seen the top pic before. But the bottom pic is STILL technically the engine bay.

 

Yes, the bottom picture is still the engine bay, but we're talking about S197's here. True fenderwell intakes for S197's don't exist (that I know of) and I've always understood that a ram air intake is supposed to get air from the engine bay, as the first picture shows. Although, I don't see how that's beneficial unless one has a ram air hood and can take in cooler air from outside. It isn't really drawing in any air with a hood that does not have any openings or non-functional openings.

The cold air intake in the second picture takes air from behind the driver's side headlight, obviously. One would think that particular design offers more of a hp increase than the ram air because it isn't blocked off on 2 sides like a ram air is.

At least that's what I think.

 

Yes, that's all true. It's just strange that the line between the two is now blurred. All the ram air hoods for your body style direct air to that CAI location. So I suppose you can now call them both, even though I think CAI is now a sort of universal term.
