Default Rear Differential

I need to get a new 28 spline rear differential for my 01. but, every site i go on only has the 31 spline and that wont fit unless i upgrade my axle....anyone know where to find the 28????

If you need to replace it, do it once and beef it up with 31 spline posi and axles. Otherwise this is the cheapest one I found. I would highly highly recommend upgrading to 31 spline if you already have to buy a posi do it once and get the whole thing done.

Well, if the carrier is in decent shape, just replace them. That or go to a junk yard and find a complete carrier or one w/ posi. That's the cheapest bet. Also, I see 28 spline posis on Jegs ad I'm sure Summit has them as well.

They are stronger parts that will take the abuse of drag racing etc... and not break when you run sticky tires.

to install it just depends.. honestly..
like on my 7.5 under my race car. its pretty tedious, having to pop the axles pull the assemble out get the new carrier, and old gears, put together, and put axles back in make sure the everything is good, like the spindle gear and its shimmed properly.. i would be guessing that, that is what its going to be like for a ford rear end to..

also if you don't already have new gears. now would be a great time to put some in.. but for that you will need to do a little bit more work, like take off the drive shaft to pull the spindle gear out and replace everything back.
