Default rev limiter problem

I have a 96 cobra and the problem happens when i get to 6100 rpm it feels like the rev limiter kicks in and the fuel is shut off. I have replaced spark plugs and wires hoping this would fix it but it did not. I am wondering if my tach is just off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you know where the limiter is supposed to be set for your car? If the tach is off, you can check it with the cars built-in tach. This prceedure will turn your odometer into a digital, acurate tach. This will answer your question if the needle itself is off.

Here is instructions:

Another reason why the car may die, is if your fuel filter is getting plugged. Y

He Can't on a 96 he doesent have a digital milage meter so that wont exactly work.

Do you have aftermarket guages? If so when you had them instaled they or you may have put the tach needle on wrong and it reading less rpm's than it should , this may be the problem why.

besides the fact that i dont have a digital odometer my rev. limiter is supposed to be at 7100 i believe. No they are the same factory guages and have never been touched.

7100 are you sure?? I'm new to the modular world but in my 04 cobra the rev limiter is at 6500 and the fuel shutoff is at 6560 with this being said 6100 does seem a little low yuo can have it checked if your willing to do a dyno run
