Default Granatelli Coil Pack

Does anybody have these or know of anyone who does? I am thinking of getting them in a few months when I get some money saved up. Do they actually give you the 15 hp gain that it says it does? I wouldn't think that something that simple would give you that much more hp. But any input on these would be nice.

This question has been debated over and over....not so much here, but other places.

Don't expect 15 hp unless you have a turbo or a super charger on the car. Also, there is some question that much of the gains may be the result of having sick COP's on the car in the first place. In other words, just getting OEM cops placed on a older car should net you similar gains anyway.

If I were sure then spending $500 on these would give me 15 hp, I would jump at it. But I need to see more proof.

Totally agree with WaterDR....I would only add that granatelli doesn't exactly have the best reputation for making quality products.....to be blunt most of the stuff the make is absolute junk....don't know about the coils though.

save your hard earned money for something that is more proven, like gears.

Forget GMS products, they're crap. If you want higher output coils, MSD and Acel make them and at least their stuff has quaility to back them up. Also, the construction has me confused since they use Stainless wire as to connect the coil to the plug and yet they claim 0Ω resistance. Knowing that Stainless is not meant to be used as a conductor and that all plug wires are made from Copper wire, you can start to see the BS that they spew out. However, as mentioned, you won't gain anything unless you're putting out enough power where you need to shrink your plug gaps a good bit.

Yeah I saw the MSD coil packs for about $380. And thanks for letting me know about GMS being crap. I didn't know that. So is the price difference between stock coils and aftermarket ones pretty big?

Don't bother with aftermarket coils until you have boost or fat nitrous running. The stock system is capable of lighting some pretty wicked combinations off.

GMS = t3h l0s3. Their coils are rumored to be the same as the accel and msd packs but it's still a moot point since they're a 100% waste of mod-money. Put that 400 bones into a cobra brake kit or subframe connectors or something useful.
