What is the loudest muffler you can buy for the 99-04s? Which one sound the best?

 

SLP sounds the loudest and imo i think its sounds great depending on the exhaust setup you do with no cats it sounds like **** imo most people will say slp loudest an the other two fan favs that sound bomb is borla stingers and mac

long tubes, no cats and glasspacks, or hell no mufflers at all

no... you dont, trust me. open headers is going to be loud as hell, and its going to sound like crap. you have a roush. make it sound classy, not like white trash. you need some kind of backpressure, especially with LTs just get some type of straight through muffler, i reccomend the magnapacks they sound real good,

I was thinking of the loud mouth mufflers by SLP.....

 

I have Cherry Bomb Extreme mufflers on my car and they are pretty darn loud!

Ah thats nitrolews car. Far from stock... I believe it has a stroked mod 5 litre in it. But its longtubes, offroad h pipe, and a loudmouth catback

best sounding is Borla and Mac BY far, I would only put Borla or mac on my car. recently changed from borla to make.

 

But which loudmouth mufflers are louder?

 

Loudest are LM1s. I like them but they tend to pop when you let go at a high rpm which sounds like a fart. I currently have the SLP powerflo mufflers and are plenty loud for me but are the quietest that slp makes. In order of loudness LM1,LM2,powerflos Best way to gauage loudness is to see how far the car is in relation to the camera. Here is a vid of my setup

Are the LM1s the race resonators? Or are those just to replace the cats?

 

LM1s are resonators without any packing inside,hollow. LM2s are the same as LM1s but have packing and the cheese grate insert in the inside of it. Powerflos are shaped like a muffler and are like the LM2s but have more packing inside of it. All of the 3 are straight through design meaning there are no chambers if you look at it you can see right through it. All 3 replace and fit in the stock location of the mufflers. All 3 are longer but fit in an angle and not straight like a muffler see below.

nitro lew now has a carb'd motor in that car. and he is starting with another carb'd motor for that car too.....i think like a 4xx big block or something.lol
