Exclamation mmr 4.6l shortblocks???

does anyone know how these mmr shortblocks drive??? it sounds pretty good when i looked it up evrything is forged and ready for a turbo or nitrous... i was looking at the 600 and 900 because they are cheaper but could anyone tell me what you'd need to make this work what trans do i need.. does it come with a coputer or is it carb??? lety me know everything you guys can tell me... please...

I have talked to a few people who use MMR shortblocks and Ive heard nothing but good about them. Supposedly they great. Stronger than a stock 03/04 cobra shortblock if you go with the 900.....

what type of trans did they get and did they have to get a new driveshaft??? what mods did they have to do??? or did it hook up to all the cobra parts???

Im kinda lost as to what you are getting at. Its just a shortblock meaning block,crank,pistons,rods, bearings thats it. No tranny no heads etc.... just the short block. YOU buy this and you can use whatever modular engine parts you like 2v 4.6 heads, 4v heads etc... So you can buy this and then use your stock parts like your stock heads intake cams off your motor with this beefed up shortblock or get better heads cams etc.. You will need a 8 bolt flywheel with the cobra crank as they are all 8 bolt flywheels if your car doesnt have that.

I just dropped off my stang at D Agustino yesterday, they are installing a blower and doing some other work. They have some bad a$$ cars there.

MMR is building my 5.4 (they should be done about now....). They've been nothing but helpful and open during the whole process. Given the number of modular engines they build, I expect nothing but really solid quality.

No matter where you get your motor from, make sure that modular fords are a big part of their business. You want them to know MODULAR motors, not just motors. Reasoning: companies like CHP which make fantastic pushrod motors have had trouble with reliability on their forays into the modular scene. Experience pays.

EDIT: in any case, get the 900. It's worth the extra money to have the upgraded parts if you're going to whip on it.

The MMR Shortblock vs your origional shortblock will drive 100% identical, you may not even know that its an MMR piece. Sometimes you hear some piston slap with a forged setup, especially with an aluminum block but it tends to go away once the car warms up. Your drivability will change when you getinto head/cam combinations, no matter what shortblock its on.

If you are buying ANY shortblock, from ANY company you will need at minimum: Heads/Cams/Springs/Intake/Gaskets/Plenum/etc etc. There are other things that I can't remember right off, however most of these you can reuse from your origional engine - however you will not gain and power by doing so. If you want to gain power you should research some nice head/cam setups for your application.

Any tans you like. You can use your origional trans, or upgrade to a heavy duty unit such as the TKO or T56 or a build automatic.

Neither. It is just a bare engine, so it does not know nor care what type of fuel feed is used. You determine that based on what heads/cams/intake you put on it.

Hope that helps. MMR is also involved in the build of my 5.4 and their customer service was top notch. They even took back a set of pistons and rings that I had already opened and reshipped me out a different size, and were willing to split the cost of shipping.

MMR is my primary source of parts for my 5.4 build up as well, and they will be putting the whole thing together shortly.

Its looking like February or March for me. Sure the motor will be finished in a month or two, but all the supporting mods are going to take me awhile. Depleted my mod funds on the motor lol.

I'm shooting for Christmas or sooner. Was actually shooting for end of summer but things never go as planned.

I'm in the same boat - supporting mods and the top half of the motor, lol. That's just the N/A version to get it in and running.

same here. You guys know I've been working on this for quite a while. I was going to do a straight swap in the beginning but I decided I only wanted to do 1 engine pull in my car and this was going to be it. Sure it took another year and change just to scrounge the parts... the end product for all of us though is going to be seriously stout bullets under our bonnets and all the growing room we could ever want.

Through the whole endeavor MMR has been there to answer questions for me. I call frequently enough that the guy that answers just says, "Hi Colin" when I tell them I wanted to see how things were progressing. He's never short with me or distracted. This is the kind of thing that causes me to forgive completely little schedule blips and the not-inexpensive cost of their services. Is it worth it... hellz yeah.

Yep should be cool when you actually finish yours up because if I recall mine will be pretty much identical to yours except I went with the XE278AH for the cams and different intakes. Plus I'm going for full blown nitrous setup for the track.
