I have a 96 gt with a some mods but 140k miles. last summer Best time is 14.90@91mph. over winter i put in rebuilt trany (auto) with old transgo shift kit from my old tranny and added BBK shorty headers. but now best time is 15.3. WTF is going on? I was told i needed a tune and that i was running lean probably. i already have 70mm throttle and plenum upgrades, k&n air intake, msd wires, underdrive pulleys, 3.73 gears, and new alum. crossover intake. I want better track time and more power but budget is tight because of college. i was thinkin 24/lb injectors and a sct tunning chip. any advise on what i should do?

 

are you getting traction with your launch? i dont think you "need" a tune with the mods you have, a tune would help but as far as i know you dont necessarily need one for those mods..my 96 gt 5 speed with just an x pipe, flows, went 15.01...your car with 3.73 gear and the other mods you have should defff be doing much better..

 

the stock injectors are 19lb'ers and are good to 300+ hp, so you DO NOT need new injectors at your power level.

what is the MPH of the latest run and were the 14.90 and the 15.3 run in the same conditions/time of day/time of year?

 

that what a performance shop said that it should be lower in the 14s but he said sounds lean and a need to change that but not sure how

 

day in time were different one was october while one was may but my car runs 89 to 91 mph everytime.
