Default need advice on new cams

i want to buy new cams, but im not sure whats out there. im new to the mustang game and am just looking for some advice from those of you out there who know a thing or two. i am looking at having my heads ported and polished later so will that be a factor in the cams i choose as well. im looking at a stage two set up on the cams, is that too aggresive? right now i have the basic bolt ons like cat back exhaust,CAI, 3.73's and a stage two spec. any sound advice would be great.

VT 1 or 2's, Comp 262ah, or MPH or Fox Lake custom cams.

stage 2's are always nice

if i were you.. I'd decide what route you're gonna take with the car.. N/A or S/C? decide that before you get the cams

not trying to hi-jack...but....if i got VT stage 2 cams, I've read i'll need a tune. how soon after will i need it, like the next day or could i go a couple weeks before it needs to get done so long as i dont pound on the engine.. I dont go to the track at all, I just want my car to have more power.

Dont waste your time porting the plenum, you cant port the stock plastic manifold.

Expect to pay around 1k for cam and spring install.

Get a tune ASAP, the car wont idle for **** without one and youll hate driving it. But you wont cause any harm as long as you dont romp on it.

i saved a ton of money on cam install......i did everything except for the timing, i paid a mechanic to come over for an hour and set up all the timing and make sure everything was good so i didnt have to worry when i turned my car on

Ported heads by themselves are not worth it. Cams are, though. However, if you are gonna pull the heads to swap the cams, might as well get the heads ported at the same time. Buying new ported heads are about $2500, but you can have them ported for about a grand.

Pull your heads and send them to Steen. Have them make custom cams for you. They will send you the ported heads I believe with the cams which makes the install I lot easier.
