Default Blew My Engine!!

hey, i blew my engine on my 4.6 GT. Is it possible to fit a cobra engine in this car? I want to replace it, but I want to get something better while I still can. Are there other engines I can look into? I am on a major budget so I'm kind of looking for a used one. Anyone know where I can look for used engines? and what other engines will fit?

You gotta change a lot of things to do it. Just get a built GT motor and swap it in if you really want to get into it try a 3 valve motor.

I'm gonna guess you miss shifted and red-lined at like 8K? lol

Yes, a Cobra engine will fit. Hopefully all you need is a new shortblock. Look around for a terminator shortblock. If you swap to a Cobra engine (DOHC) then you need new headers, computer, wiring, a lot of stuff. Ain't worth it if you're on a budget.

why not just a 5.4L short block. the heads bolt right up, there are adapter plates for the intake and it'll fit under the hood with minimal issue.

It would be easier and cheaper(maybe) to get a low mile motor and thow a blower on it than go through the headache of a 4v swap. Defenitly easier. If you don't want boost good luck.

Howd you blow your motor on an NA car?

Might want to look into just a stock replacment, or a Mach 1 motor. Or you could just build a new bottom end for around 3500.

That was my 1st question.. What happened?. Did it blowup during a high rev mishap? or what. Your warranty may cover it? We want some juicy details..

The cheepest option is a used motor out of an existing GT. Exspect to pay about $900. You can buy remans for under $3,000. Mach or Cobra motors will require a lot of extra cost.

Check out Mustang Parts Specialties website. They usually have used motors for a decent price.

Karkraft.com also. They have brand new factory 4.6 shortblocks for $1500. Also many used engines under $2000
