Unhappy I heard pinging!

Yes I keep hearing a little pinging right at 4600rpm. I dont know why it its. I looked at my dyno sheet and the a/f ratio is around 11.5 at 4600... Maybe too much timing and no intercooler? Im going to call brent over at Delk and see if he can fix it.

Maybe too much timing and a lot of heat.

BTW, I see you're going with the intercooler next. Have you seen the DIY ones on MPH?

the a/f has little effect on pinging. You have to much timing or its running to hot with not enough octane.

I am running 93 octane. That should be good enough for 8psi. I guess its just the timing then. Im taking the car to brent in about 2 hours. Maybe he can work it out, just hope I dont lose even more power from backing the timing off. Or will that add power since it wont be pinging? Im going to the 1/8th mile tonight and ill prolly throw a bottle of octane booster in the tank like I did last time. Seemed to work great with the n20....

dont add octane boosters they crap and hardly raise your true octane level. Run 93 and go with it. Also it could of been a bad tank of 93 not all gas stations are nice and really put 93 in there. For instance one station in the fl keys where i grew up a freind worked there and they really only carried 89 thats it. they watered it down for the 87 octane people and for hte 89 and 93 it was really just 89. Thats another good reason i only use name brand gas now. I stay away from the no name places.

i didnt know they just put 89 in some of them! I thought the bad ones actually had 93, but it may just be dirty or something....I have been buying gas from our native friends lately....Maybe I should get some from Shell or BP from now on.

well i got it all fixed. Took it to brent and he just pulled a little timing. Runs with no pinging now! And I didnt feel a loss in power!

I really dont know what it would dyno right now. He didnt put it on a dyno or even take it down the road today. He just pulled out my chip, adjusted the timing, and handed it back to me. After it was on the dyno, he adjusted the A/F ratio in a couple spots, then he pulled timing today.....I dunno if it would be less or more

Yea I took it to the 1/8th mile and ran a 8.52 @76 on these little street tires I have on it. 2.1 60ft. The s/c improved my 60ft times alot! I was cutting 2.2 60fts at best before. Now I went 2.0 a couple times, but the clutch slipped and I had to let out of it. Definately getting some DR's, clutch, and possibly built rear w/3:73's by next spring...

Yeah, you should be cutting 1.6's with good tires and suspension.
