Question Shorty's???

I'm thinkin' on getting some BBK Shorty Headers to complete my exhaust system, what do you think? I don't hear much feedback on shorty's, so I'm curious to know how they sound, and what kind of HP/TQ gains to expect. I'm guessing around 10hp. alot of work for such a crappy power increase.....I know

Anywhere in between 8-10 HP. If you are thinking about supercharging or want more power down the road go ahead and get some longtubes. Shortys are for stock to mild applications.

Gains from shorties will be minimal. Your best bet would be to get some JBA's & they'll be close to those numbers.

You will get 1HP to 6HP max to the wheels with shorties, same with TQ. Longtubes are the best route.

Go with longtubes. We put shorty headers on my buddy's car and he only got 4 rwhp out of them. Not worth it for the PITA installation.

Jeez, only 4 HP? That downright sucks. Looks like I'll invest in some longtubes.

In about a hundred dyno tests I've seen 2-5rwhp and similar tq. They're so not worth it if you're not running a power adder that it's ridiculous. Long tubes are great, Bassani mid lengths are just like long tubes to our motors... shorties are for bragging or wasting trust funds. Don't waste your money. Longtubes are a 10-15hp gain in almost every case. More if you do the mid-pipe and cat back but those are still mostly for sound and gravy value.

EDIT: Just noticed you already have the rest of the exhaust done... get the LT's and you'll be a happy camper. And for god's sake put some cats on the X pipe. They don't hurt power to any real extent but they do help with pollution and emissions tickets.

+1 for longtubes.

Shorties = cost a little less = give no noticeable hp = same labor cost as LT's

LT's = cost a little more = give noticeable hp(especially at high rpms) = same labor cost

verdict: LT's in any scenario. Whether youre getting a s/c or not.

Speedy, read my post about 2V header install. Long tubes always make more power than shorties. Shorties are good for clearence, I'll sell you my BBK shorties (chrome in the box) so I'll have a head start on my long tubes.

I have BBK shorties on mine. They are a pain in the *** and align like crap.

More than half of you guys giving header advice on these are all way off. BBK shorties have been dynoproven over and over to give 10 at the wheels on vehicles with little to no mods besides a midpipe. Infact 5.0 had an article on the installation of them with dyno results. I noticed a great deal of difference with the installation of my headers and slp catted xpipe, right after 3 grand.

Are they worth it? No, get long tubes.
