I was in this same situation for quite some time before I decided on mine. The best way I decided was to go to either mustangexhaust.com or streetfire.com (keyword exhaust) and just listen to all the sound clips you can.

With mine, everyone told me that the o/r h went best with Flows, and since I got it I couldn't agree more..as for you you have the SLP LM's I would say to go for the o/r x. Just personal opinion.

But like I said listen to clips, I probably listened to over 200 before I decided!

Here's a link with a ton of different set ups: mustangexhaust

or
streetfire x pipe

streetfire h pipe

streetfire exhaust

streetfire mustang

I have mac long tubes and Magnapacks, and i've run both an o/r H and o/r Pro-chamber. Both sound really good to me, just the pro-chamber has the low drone, where'as the H has a smooth Really really raspy tone over 2600rpm's.

I think you found the crappiest clips of both those mid pipes. I've had the prochamber with slp lm1's and they sounded awesome. Smooths out the tone and made it deeper. Cant say much for the catted H, because I have an o/r h pipe now. This thing is just sick and sounds amazing.

That Prochamber clip had to have been done on a car with no mufflers. Mine sounded WAY better than that and I even had the of road pipe. Mod Motor V8 'Stangs sound like pure poop to me without mufflers.

so im guessing that thier is only a sound differnce. not so much of a power difference.....i perfer a little deeper sound so it sounds like a prochamber would be what im interested in

We have a winner folks. There is a difference only in sound. from the mid pipe back they all give about the same nothing to just-more-than-nothing gains.

H pipes with good size crossovers will yeild a deeper tone than an X pipe. Size matters in H-pipe cross overs. The skinnier the balance tube the blatty-er the sound (crappy ol home made chebbie truck with a rusted out bed popping exhaust sound). The larger the tube the better the sound waves will cancel and the more homogenous the note will be. Usually a 3-4 inch-ish length of whatever size tube is being used for the mains is a good place to start. Prochambers sound tinny to me.. I don't think they sound quality. My opinion. X pipes give a more raspy note than H's and sound best to me at all rpms.

I like Bassani X pipes. they sound nicest all the time in my experience, until longtubes enter the scene. Any ol H is probably as good as the next.

Hmm - prochamber - sucks for performance - think about it - its fuggin box... ok next x pipe - good for high end HP - sounds like *** - raspy up top ... loses low end torque... H pipe - gians low end torque ( w/o cats) not need for a new one... just cut ur cats... they dont gain as much as the x in horsepower - but they sound a HELL of alot better and don't lose torque ... which is what i want - so longtubes... h pipe and flows w/ no cats is the way to go in my opinion

I have a UPR o/r X-pipe and i never heard one before i bought mine and i love the way it sounds. But if you want a quiet ride than i would get something else. My car is freakin loud even on the inside especially with a rear seat delete kit.

This thread needs to die, there have been over 5,000,000 threads on this all over the internet. The power gain between them all is about the same save for 2-3 hp here and there.

dude chill. most people who are new to the car modding scene arent aware that these mods give so little hp. thats why you STILL see "which CAI shoudl I get?" threads. They just dont know. just apease them and not whine about how stupid the thread is.

I have the UPR O/R X Pipe. It is most definately the most bang for the buck when it comes to Midpipes. They cost like 125 bucks and makes the same power as the more expensive ones. I have no problem with it and I love the sound, but Bassani is MUCH better quality. Bassani uses Stainless Steel while the UPR is Aluminized. The welds are thicker and cleaner on the bassani pipe and there is a more generous crossover section than the UPR. Stay away from MAC products as much as possible. Just my opinion.....Take that SLP catback off and sell it.

I think the best combo would be to either go ALL Bassani or use a Bassani Catted X pipe and a Flowmaster Cat Back with the Super 40 mufflers. It sounds awesome...... It will be quieter than an O/R pipe but it will still have a nice strong tone to it.

If you prefer an old school musclecar sound, then buy an H pipe. I dont like them but if thats what you like then get it. Definately listen to clips from the internet.
