Default lowering my car

I want to lower my 05 stang I see where alot of guys use lowering springs. How do you guys feel about airride technologies for lowering the car. Alot more expensive but if I have it is that the way to go? Let me know your feelings.

Thanks

well it depends, the Air ride is expensive compaired to the springs...but if you want a REALLY nice suspension u can always do a coil over kit from KYB, or one of the german companies that sell them, that will run like 1500 plus intall, but the advantage is you can adjust them whenever you want...

If you just want it to be lowered, but not rice H&R Springs are amazing for that and I are alot cheaper, 250 plus install which will probably run a total of 500...those are just the normal options, I'd go springs over Air ride, but if you want adjustable, go with Adjustable Coil overs,

Now that we got that covered springs it is. Now about the tires and rims. I want to get the 18" deep dish bullitts. If I put 18x10 on the back with 285-40-18 and 18x9 on the front with 255-45-18 is that a good combonation on tires or should I change either the wheel size or the tire size let me know your opinions. oh yeah also going to install the lowering springs

Thanks

You should be good to go. I c in your avatar theres an 05...is that what you got? If so, make sure u specify on the MTing site. Anthricite Bullitts would look good. Thats also a good tire width

Springs it is. As for the tire size, in checking with some other posts, I think my 05 GT the tire size conclusion is 18x10 285-35-18 (rear) and 18x9 265-35-18 (front) sounds like a winner. MT you guys are the pros will these fit my 05 with lowering springs on?

If you want to spend the extra money the air ride system is very good. Your cornering is much better and and the ride is very comfortable which is not something you can say about all lowering springs. The bad thing about this system is that it weighs a lot and added weight doesn't help performance. IMO just get some springs and shocks/struts or wait until more comes out for the 05+ models.

You would need the 05 version of those H&R/Eibach springs btw.

Just because one person witha v6 says air ride is rice, that means it is???? comming from a person who has atezzas...

seriously, the sporty version of air ride , is one of the nicest systems out there. I have a buddy with a black 05 with the perforamnce airride system, it's AWESOME. He can lower it for performance, and when a speed bump comes up he can raise it with the flip of a switch...the thing also rode like a godamned mercedes.

There's only tweo drawbacks. 1 theyre a little heavier than other things..
and 2 theyre way more expensive

In my eyes the advantages outwiegh the disadvantages, and I would DEFINATLEY have air ride if could affored it, I dont care how much more it wieghs..its perfect for the 05

I hate people that talk about **** they dont know about

Hey cup cake I don't have altezzas, haven't had them on for awhile now...

2 thats my opinion, and seeing how he probably doesn't wana throw 1500- 2000 into his suspension just yet, I was helping him out...

3 Air ride is still ghetto IMHO... i'm sure other people feel the same.... but again thats just my opinion...

and whats with the V6? are we goin back to this again? with the Fobra vs the 6er? come on...

well I'm glad you got rid of em

your opinion should be non considerable because im fairly positive you have no experience with daily driving with ANY of those setups except mabey loweing springs, If you even have those

so you just gather up informantion on **** you read about on the internet, and tell it to the guy like you've had personal experience with all three of them

how is air ride ghetto? they put thousands of dollars into research to find the best mix of sportiness/handling/and ride quality...oh yeah real ghetto...

and yes you have a v6, I mayhave cobra bumpers, but find a cobra emblem on my car?I also have the same basic engine as a cobra ( minus the heads)

it just bugs me that people think they can tell someone something, they really dont know anything about other than what they read on the internet

IMO, Air ride adds too much unsprung weight than it takes away. That 05 has enough needless weight on it already. No need to go adding more.

where the hell did I ever state my opinion on coil overs and lowering sporings?

Ive heard a ton of crap about coil overs on the net, but I'm not gonna post all that info up, because that's what somone else says

I said 2 thigns

ONE: dont knock air ride, it kicks ***

TWO: especially dont know it, if you dont know **** about it

you can have an opinion, but when you just read about it, and talk about it like you deal with it every day, that doesnt fly as an opinion
